Actually, she tied the previous World Record (99) and set the new Olympic Record (previously 93.)

That was awesome! She's an inspiration - go USA!

Medal ceremony is going on now -

Side note: That's quite a shot fence they have out there!

"Frist American to win Medals in 5 straight GAMES as an indivdual. second record."

That might be an American Record but not a World record.

Not to take anything away from her amazing feat of dominance.

I was so excited about the news, I missed this thread when I posted a separate one about Kim's victory . . . so I will say it again, here: CONGRATULATIONS, KIM!!

Also being from Southern California and having watched her practice, her win is very close to my heart. I'm going to go shooting this morning and celebrate!

Joe, Harvey and Lisa, and Valerie,

We must feel the same thing. Being a SoCal native myself and seeing Kim practice, leaves me with an unexplained sense of pride! It really feels like someone from our shooting family made good on the world stage. What a role model she is!!

Actually, Danka Bartekova of Slovakia, who won the Bronze, had the previous World Record at 99, which Kim equaled today.

Kim holds the world record w/o final at 75 straight set at Tuscon world cup earlier this year then tied the world record @ 99 w/ final. Did it in a stiff wind. The Norwegian, Brevold, commented he couldn't believe she did it considering the conditions.

They all should feel lucky that Nora never set her sights on the olympics!

Last time I was in SoCal she was practicing at Prado Olympic Shooting park. That was about a year ago. I guess she practices at all the SoCal shooting clubs. Any way it was her that did the work to achieve the results, plus the sacrifice her parents gave her to reach her dreams.

She deserves all of our admiration and respect, job well done Kim Rhode !!!

I'm sorry, but until top ATA shooters actually walk the walk and compete in the Olympic trap disciplines, the idea that they would excell is just opinion and doubtful opinion at that. And I don't see the world trap community quaking in fear of their deciding to come aboard.

Had the opportunity of meeting her in Vandalia at the 2004 scholastic champion ship.. she put my gold medal around my neck, an experience I will never forget.

    Congratulations to her.
