I just got a letter in the mail today stating that I earned a .5 yard punch from the 20 this past weekend. That was a pleasant surprise, I didn't think I had shot well enough to earn a move back. Now only 6.5 yards to go.

That means you were the Champion of all the handicappers.

Whenever you have the highest score, you get a punch (even with a 90).

I know, because several of my punches were gained that way.

Congratulations on great shooting and recognition for it. Don't let the jokers at the club try to tell you you have to stand at the back of the box like they did me. LOL

    Bucko,

It wasn't the highest score, but there were enough shooters that quite a few people got punches.

    Dear Rich219,
Congrats on your punch. I would guess that you shot that in the PA Main HDCP event on Sunday. There was approx. 880 shooters in that event, so according to the earned yardage table...they would punch the top 4 scores shot..In PA there were 98, 97, 96,95 shot. Read your rulebook and you can see that punches for high scores begins with 15 shooters starting an event, etc. Read the rulebook as often as you can! All answers are there! Read carefully and slowly especially when it comes to the HDCP rules. Those high scores may not be consecutive...98, 97, 95, 94...That is no 96's shot!! If that had happened, you would have earned a full yard according to the yardage table. Also if their was less than 15 shooters entered & started, THEIR WOULD BE NO PUNCH unless you shot 96 or better. Congrats again on the punch and hope you have enough targets for the NYS shoot.
    Sincerely,
    Jet-X Boat Bill

I'm going to do my best to get enough targets for the NYS shoot. After this weekend I will still be 400 targets short from the 1,500 minimum. July 2nd I'll grab 100 @ Lima and July 4th I'll grab another 100 @ Springwater so I need to find another 200 somehow by the Monday July 4th.

If you'll be there early, just shoot penalty on the first 2 days and then reclassify. Thursday is really the start of things anyway.

I can't afford to stay in a hotel all week and I don't want to drive 2.5 hours each way, each day to get there.

I just talked to a gentleman from the Sardinia R&G club and they have an ATA shoot this Sunday in Yorkshire, NY so I'm going to head out there to get another 100 targets in.

This leaves me 100 targets short of the 1,500.

If I can find a shoot within an hour or so of where I live I would love to shoot on the 3rd of July.

The ShootATA website shows that a club 48 miles from my location has a shoot next Thursday night so I'm going to call them today or tomorrow and see if they are throwing caps targets, if so I may just go attend that ATA shoot.

There is a shoot in Fulton, but way more than an hour I guess.

Congratulations. I'm jealous, not that you got punched, but that you can shoot registered targets within 1hr of home!!

You will be in good form for the NYS.

Try to make pathfinders shoot on 7/3 in Fulton NY. They put on a nice shoot.

Fulton is going to be too far for me to want to drive on July 3rd. If I can't get another 100 targets in before then I will make the drive to Fulton if I have to though.

    Kevin Fleming,

I guess I shouldn't tell you that I can shoot registered targets within 3 minutes of home then.

I just grabbed another 1/2 yd. today @ Sardinia! Looks like I'll have no problem meeting the 1,500 minimum by next Monday.
