And flincher 100, you forgot that Mr. Wayne also showed himself to be a bigot.
But he must be a great American; afterall, an airport is named after him......"what will they think of next"....

    Flincher100...
Quote "Nice piece of history to commemorate a drunk and draft-dodger. Should sell like crazy to the moron set."

You are in error. Wayne was not a draft dodger. In fact, he tried several times to enlist and was turned down, apoint that bothered him a great deal. Did he drink? Yes, he did but he was no drunk. I met him on more than one occasion as a child and young man. My grandfather and many of my Grandfather's friends and my employer himself, Alex Hume, worked with Wayne on several movies. I met him at social events held by these men and their families. Wayne was always courtious to the women, fair with the men and a gentleman, something of which you seem to know little of.

Check your facts before you spout off.

    Filcher100,

You must know something nobody else knows. How many actors/americans/cowboys can you name with a Congressional Medal minted for them.

to classify you as a moron would be an insult to morons.

It just cheeses me off when people repeat crap they have no personal knowledge of as if it were fact. That they do it to a dead man is even worse. I met and knew more than one old studio star and not one was a jerk.

Check the Ed Asner interview, years ago, in Playboy magazine. Wayne referred to Asner as "that New York actor" which was plainly a buzzword to send an anti-Semetic message. But maybe you guys think that's ok.

To the flincher and his co-Hort 2 cent change. First to you flincher he didn't just get a "Congressional" medal beltbuckle" a Congressional Medal was awarded to the Duke posthumously for being the kind of American that represents to the world what America is all about.

I don't wish to sound harsh but in my mind that kind of make your opinion Pale by comparison. While we are on the subject just what have you done that make you enough of an American to criticize an American institution?

Now for your comments change. You don't like the Duke's opinion of Ed Asner which you say is a anti-Semitic message. To you I say if this is the best reason you can find to dislike the man and all that he stands for. You need to get your head out of your @%* and learn that no one likes everyone. BTW just what professionally has Mr. Asner ever done that even remotely compares to John Wayne's?

My answer to that question in trying to find a comparison is that Mr. Asner did take up space!!!

Geez, the reference to "that NY actor" was not a coded buzz word for Jew....It was a shot taken at those actors who had values and ideas about the craft and politics that were at odds with those who practiced out west in Hollywood. It would help if you new something about the "business" before you spouted off. The Duke was not anti-Semetic. He was anti-communist, liberal and socialist; all ideas very popular with the NY acting crowd at that time.

Folks-There is always some little unnoticed, overlooked individual like
flincher100 that will try anything to get attention: This poor
little mushroom of a person has been in the dark and will remain
in the dark most of his life. He is to be pitted for the un-
developed attitude that he has. Go home and look your self in the
mirror and admire yourself, no one else does.

Funny thing is, if you have a problem with Jews you've got no business in show business, especially Hollywood. Jews are definetly in the majority at the studios. No so many in craft services or transport but in the writers and director/producer bunch and in the studio suits, not to mention the actos themselves, they are well represented.

Suggest you look up Ed Asner's history. Don't confuse him with Lou Grant.
