This is terrible news. John was dedicated to his family, to trapshooting, to Georgia, and to the ATA. The Association will greatly miss his services as President.

Those who knew John, knew what he stood for. Honesty, integrity and doing the right thing. Especially when it came to trapshooting. He worked tirelessly for our sport. This is a great loss to not just his family and his friends, but for trap shooters everywhere. A good man is gone. Our dear friend is gone. May he rest in peace, now. We love you John. Our prayers and thoughts are with Virginia.

It's a sad day here in Georgia. We've lost the man who was the trap rock for our association and his home club, Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville, GA. John did more for the sport here in Georgia than most folks will ever know. He will be sorely missed by those of us who worked with him and knew him well.

    Farewell my friend.

This is terrible news! John was a true gentleman and one of the nicest men I have met in trapshooting. Always fair and honest. We have all lost a good friend.

We are so sorry to hear this and please let his family know that our thoughts and prayers are with them.

I could tell he was very sick last time I saw him at the Ga State Shoot, I was just hoping he could hold on till he was installed as the president of the ATA in September. He was a hard worker and was I'm sure looking forward to serve his term as president. Condolences to all who loved him. Biff

Heard the sad news this morning at the Alberta Provincil Shoot as we paid respects to those shooters who have left us in the last year. Thoughts and prayers to his family from Alberta.

"Can someone post an address where I can send a card?"

Check the above link to an ATA contacts page. It is listed under Executive Committee hope this helps.

I first met John Hiter at the Georgia State Shoot during a Low Country boil that Terry Boggs was putting on at the Savannah Gun Club. A nicer man you'll never meet. I'm glad to have been one of his friends. I'll miss him.
