Just watched Joey Chestnut set a new world record by consuming 69 Nathan hotdogs at Coney Island.

Watching him do that is giving me hope that I can break 100 straight in handicap. LOL Dream the impossible dream.

How many children in America go to bed hungry and malnourished? How many would have given thanks for a half of one of those hot dogs? Yet fools like this are held in high esteem and regarded as idols. Sleep well.

When a stomach finally ruptures and the idiot collapses and dies right in front of everybody, it will finally dawn on us how incredibly stupid this "competition" is.

This is incredibly stupid and does nothing to improve upon the "ugly American" view held by many foreigners. Not that I really care what they think, however crap like this is where those feelings are developed from.

Just so you fellas who oppose such eating displays know, eating contests date back long long before any of these contestants were born.

Gee Mike, what is your point? Are you saying the hotdogs eaten in this contest were taken out of the mouths of hungry American children for just that function?

Where are these hungry American children? All I see are fat little kids. Go to the grocery store the first week of the month when they are there with their Moms who are loading up the cart with frozen pizza, burritos, potato chips, etc and paying for em with their freshly reloaded EBT card. 50 million people in this country on EBT/food stamps and we still have hungry kids?

I can say the same thing about trapshooters and shotguns. Why does anybody need a 15K shotgun? What a damn waste. You can just as easily shoot clay targets with a $250 gun and used the other $14,750 to put food in the mouths of hungry American kids.

Lighten up guys it was just a a dam Coney Island 4th of July hotdog eating contest, held to have a little fun!

I hear public service messages constantly saying that the biggest health problem in America including children is obesity, and other messages asking for donations because every day in America some big percentage of children go to bed hungry. I fail to see how both these situations can exist simultaneously.

He ain't my hero but damn 69 hot dogs, I thought I was a glutton when I was younger every payday I would go to Burger King and order two double Whoopers, a large fries, a large milk shake and a large soda and wolf it all down

But back then I was working like a dog, and never gained any weight

Wish that was still the case

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

can't just have it your way boys.

If he wants to eat 69 dawgs, he's got that right.

maybe some of those starving kids you say should go to any one of the 10,000 homeless shelters my tax dollars are paying for and get a piece of cheese or something.

better yet, they should enter some of the eating contests and fill up on free grub.

bottom line is there are better things to get your panties ruffled about than a guy who won a contest eating dawgs!!

I thought Joey Chestnut was a 70's porn star and 69 hotdogs was her hit movie. Dale

Yes, he absolutely has the right to eat 69 hot dogs. Just like I have the right to say he's a retard for doing so. No offense to retards intended, as I'm positive that they are all smarter than lil Joey C.

So this guy ( Takeru Kobayashi ), a Japanese man, won the Nathans hotdog eating contest at least 2 years in a row and the Bratwurst eating contest too, and where was Mssr. Battista's disgust then? Is it reserved for American's winning? Sounded like it in his post.

I never could eat like that. Even contemplating it makes my abdomen hurt.

I was listening to a radio show yesterday morning "Mike & mike" and they were discussing some guy was trying to break this guy's eating record and got sick after his attempt to break his record.

A day or two later he went to the hospital as needed emergency surgery as the doctors found an inch and a half of hotdog that was lodged sideways in his esophagus. Very serious situation.

It never ceases to amaze me what people will choose to be the best at. Imagine all the time and practice it takes to be good at eating hot dogs. All the time, money, health problems these people go through to be great at eating. What a waste.

It is not nearly as noble a pursuit as breaking little clay disks with a shotgun.
