Doing business with Jim Skeel is not as easy or fast as Whiz White; he needs your check in hand to ship etc; but his top reservoir plate is worth the minor inconvenience, and he does ship USPS Priority/tracking number. It's a exceptionally well made, good looking piece, that improves the (junk) plastic one that comes with the 800+, and the extra cost cast aluminum one with it's auto, self destructing "O" ring for the powder bushing. Whiz makes a better O ring for the cast one, but the ones on Jim's are a better design in my view. (time will tell on that one) In addition to the good looks, solid construction and O ring improvement, it has three nylon support screws to adjust (out) the slop in the wrack that drives the powder and shot bushings, a big plus. It's just under $100 delivered and a worthwhile upgrade to any P/W loader. The shot & powder hoppers/tubes from your old plate fit just fine, of course.

    Nice part, Jim....thanks....best....mike

With a name like Border Bandit do you really expect him to ship on faith?

Keller, I checked my (very) old 800B and it originally had a cast top plate with the tube housings part of the casting. Jim's plate will fit the 800B, but you'd need to get the single molded reservoir that holds shot & powder in a single unit from Whiz, as I don't think Jim Skeel sells those. Look at his website and you'll see the top configuration of his plate.

When I bought the 800+ it came with the shot/powder hopper, but as I said earlier, it had that POS plastic top plate, and I replaced it with the crinkle finish cast P/W unit equipped with the self districting "O" rings. Jim Skeel's machined plate is really a very nice unit, and in my opinion, a significant upgrade.

    best....mike

The plastic ones are total junk and the cast ones eat "O" rings and start throwing inconstant loads. Also, Jim's unit has three, not two nylon adjusting screws for the wrack, which in my opinion is a critical adjustment, never mind, they just look good.

PS: Skeel, you'd better get the surface grinder fired up....grin

I have the P/W EZ-FILL Hopper with baffles and covers for an additional $35.00 when you buy one of my bases. See the Website URL above.

If you want more consistent powder drops you need to get a set of my Acrylic Reservoirs. The powder reservoir has a unique baffle built into the base of the reservoir which limits the powder volume sitting on top of the bushing to just the powder volume in the riser on the base. See the Website URL above.

Jim: Can you turn the above piece so as to shut-off the shot and powder. That would be a great modification, if it already does not do that.

Jim - I second Whiz's recommendation. It sure would be nice to remove the powder and shot reservoirs without having to drain the tank. A slide valve on the base plate might work. Billy

</I>Border Bandit</blockquote>I assumed that Jim's plate would fit on my 900.

My question is (was): will BOTH sizes of acrylic tube reservoirs fit on Jim's base...powder tube is ±2 7/16" O.D. X ±2 1/4" I.D., the shot tube is ±3" O.D. X ±2 5/8" I.D.. I do NOT want to give up the larger size shot tube in the conversion.

    Keller,

The original P/W tall tubes will not mount on my base. The only reservoirs that fit on my base are the P/W EZ-FILL Hopper and my set of reservoirs.

I understand the benefit of shutting off the powder and shot just below the reservoirs. You would still have to drain the material in the risers before removing the assembly. There could be a problem with two shut offs.

I will give it some thought.

    Thanks for the clarification, Jim...

Having to purchase new transparent reservoirs (especially glass ones) just to get the new base doesn't interest me.

I'll keep using what I have.

    Keller,

You can use my base with the P/W EZ-FILL Hopper.

The EZ-FILL Hopper is only $35.00 when you purchase my base.

    <blockquote><I>"Keller,

I don't have any reason to buy a new hopper I don't particularly like just so I can get the base. My OEM components still work; I'll keep using them, thanks.

    Bill,

I included two spare seals and the instructions for replacing the seal with your base.

If you need additional seals they are $1.00 each plus $1.00 shipping.
