When you look at Jim Tressel's one National Championship, it was won largely with another coach's players. I'm beginning to believe this supposed "pipeline" of high school players he has, supplying him with H.S. players from Cleveland-Glenville, or whatever that high school is, is getting him mainly a bunch of entitlement-minded, gangsta-rapsters who are only stopping on a college campus long enough to score some white p___y before moving on to Pro ball and making the real money.

    But hey, maybe I'm wrong.

At least I'm not a Michigan fan. Double Auto's pride and joy, the Wolverines couldn't even get into a bowl game. Must feel nice, getting "owned" 5 years in a row by a team that can't win a bowl game.

Ohio State may have not won the game but they gave Texas ALL the game that would have wanted. I don't think Texas will be wanting to replay Ohio State anytime soon.

OSU players were looking stupid when faced with no huddle offense one player was in the neutral zone during line up to get to their position. Too many penalties, first time they got the ball 10 yards, next play 5 yards and they were on or close to the ten yard line and had to settle for a field goal.

what if OHIO STATE did a fast line up for defense everytime and then did a switch, probably would blow holes in the next offensive play.

Tressel said at the beginning of the year he would only use one quarterback,
that was bull*hit. OSU needs a good offensive corodinator.

Just can't wait for Tressel to leave or get better players that can think and act like a football player and ones that have a feel of the game and act like a player off and on the field.

That was a very good game that either team could have won. Glad I stayed up for that one. One of those games where the clock determines the winner.

Yea, it was a really good game, but I'm sure all the armchair coaches here could do far better (LOL). In reality, OSU played a good 1st half, a lousy 3rd quarter and a good 4th quarter. UT was very lucky to escape with a win, very lucky indeed- 6" less on that 4th down and everybody would be talking about how overrated UT was today. OSU played their hearts out and I commend them for it.

I will never understand why teams go into a prevent defense. More times than not all it does is prevent victory. The Bucks pressured the UT quarterback most of the game with some success then the last series dropped into coverage. With no pass rush McCoy could do what he wanted and did. Call me an armchair coach but that's what I saw.

Robb, OSU sure wasn't in a prevent defense when Colt threw that last touchdown, they were in a max blitz formation with only 2 safties off the line of scrimmage. That's why nobody was within 10 yards of Quan Crosby after he broke that one tackle for an easy 15 yard stroll into the end zone. Seems to me that, with only 16 seconds left, a little pass coverage might have been helpful in that circumstance. Of course, had OSU sacked Colt with this max blitz, they would have ben geniuses.

In football, there's a very fine line between being a coaching genius and an incompetent moron.

EE- Texas wouldn't want to play them again for the fear that they wouldn't get as LUCKY as they did last night. Anyone who still believes that Texas is as good as TEXAS thinks is just plain mistaken. From last night's performance they are NOT a #3 team.

'what if OHIO STATE did a fast line up for defense everytime and then did a switch, probably would blow holes in the next offensive play."

    Can't do that.

Defensive schemes are built on offensive alignments and then "reads". As such, the offensive set dictates the defensive alignment. This is why offenses put a man in motion because it will unbalance the defensive set and change the defensive players' reads.

On the final Texas touchdown, because of the blitz the safety had to play the slot receiver man on man. The corner had manned up on the wide receiver to the short side of the field leaving the slot with only 3 pattern otions, a hook, an up or a slant. A hook is seldom a hot read pattern on a blitz leaving the up or slant as the probabilities. The a DB can cover an up from either an outside or inside shade on the reciver but you can't cover a slant with an outside shade.

The safety mistakenly lined up his normal outside shade because he would typically have the other safety for contain on a slant reception. As we saw, the other safety wasn't there after the reception.

With the blitz and without the other safety, he should have lined up on the inside shoulder of the slot at about 5 yards taking away the slant and forcing the up which he could have covered from the inside shade.

Kids making simple little mistakes like that get coaches fired.

I think that the #3 team beat the #10 team. They didn't cover the spread though. Guess the rankings are pretty accurate.

Jerry, just send them Buckeye boys back down here for a rematch, and see if us Texans are scared. Heck, they'll get sent home with their tails tucked between their tails again. LUCK wins the same as SKILL, just depends on who gets the biggest dose of it.

It was a good game, evenly matched. A playoff would be better. I'd love to see Southern teams come north and play some games in the snow, but that would kill the bowl game money. Won't happen. Did you know USC will not play Notre Dame after the 4th week of the season? USC put it in the contract.

So...if OU or FLa. wins/ loses by 3 they'll go below Texas......NOT. Texas should not go beyond # 3 (Barely beat a # 10 team). You're giving too much credit to them.......#3 barely beats #10. If that is true Ohio State should be #4.....JUST BARELY BELOW TEXAS. When an 8-12 point FAVORITE JUST wins by 3 ??????? Texas will not make #1.......this year.
