Of the HUGE penalties that Penn State received today, I believe forefiting all wins from 1999 - 2011 is the biggest. It moves Paterno out as the most winning coach and Bobby Bowden in. In my opinion, Leagcy is one of the most important parts of life. Now Paterno is nothing more than an average NCAA coach despite his 61 years of coaching while turning away from hainus crimes that he knew about. While he may not be aware of this, his family certainly is.

Actually, Eddie Robinson has the most wins as a NCAA division 1 coach. It was his record of 408 wins that Paterno broke.

I think Eddie is Division II (Gramling). ESPN said Bobby.

The problem I have is the bowl game suspension of the current players. At the least, maybe the received funds from those bowl games should have been relinquished. To eliminate the chance for current players to be recognized, is kind of harsh.

One of the penalties is the players are all free agents so to speak. They can transfer to any other Collage. Third paragraph in the above website.

Blade is correct on Bowden. The posted website names the winningest coaches from the different divisions.

OMG....can't believe it, Flyn and I agree on something! Current players, most coaches, and the students are being punished for something which they had no knowledge or ability to resolve.

Sandusky and others will get what they desreve through the court system. The NCAA penalties are like double jeopardy for PC reasons.

What did Joe know? We will never really find out.

Let the courts deal with the accused.

Setterman...wake up. What Joe exactly knew was released 8 days ago in the Louis Freeh report. If he were alive today, Joe Paterno would be facing numerous counts of perjury and possibly acessory to the crime and possibly intefering with an investigation. Nothing much?

    Setter,

See, it is possible to see things the same, if you take the political element out of it.

"What did Joe know? We will never really find out."

It still amazes me how people bundle themselves up in a veritable cocoon of convenient ignorance when they don't want to face well-established facts, readily available to anyone.

According to the Washington Post, the Freeh group and NCAA never interviewed Paterno. But that is a whole nother story.

Punishing all the students, athletes, and others not associated with the crimes is pure political correctness BS.

Thats like saying everyone in the Catholic church is responsible for the kiddy fiddlers.

The Freeh report stated that there was evidence that Paterno knew of the moletations in 1998! Period! Perjury to the Grand Jury.

And if you actually READ THE REPORT (gasp!), and the emails and hand-written notes contained therein, it is abundantly clear that Paterno not only knew, but he was primary in the cover-up.

But again, when people are hell-bent on remaining ignorant of facts which conflict with what they want to believe, no amount of evidence is sufficient -- Joe was God. Period. And that is precisely what allowed every child beyond the first one to be raped.

Sooooooooo the NCAA sanctions against Ohio State states that all of the games of 2010 don't count. OK, now all the games Penn State has played from 1998 to 2011 does not count either? So the game between Penn State and Ohio State in 2010 never happened right? Well it was played no matter what the NCAA says. Taking records away is ludicrous, there were 105,000 people there to prove the game was played. Taking records out of the books does not mean it didn't happen.

Another strange thing about taking away all the games Penn State played from 1998.....The last game they would have won in the record books, Mike Mcqueary was the quarterback. Yes, the gutless sob that watched Sandusky sodomize a kid in the shower, and ran home and called his daddy. He is now the quarterback that won the last game for Penn State.
