ithaca single engraveing value?

    hello-who engraved gun and if it is signed?does it make any difference in the value of a nick single barrel trap who done the engravein and if it is signed or not??? are the earlier nicks engraveing more desirable than the later ones? have got my old flues working properly again,weak hammer spring,now am looking to upgrade. patrick

    I've owned about 25 Knick singles and NONE were signed. Some were def. done by McGraw--later ones by Alpin/Main etc. You can tell on many of them who did the engraving based on the year they were completed. Ypu should def, get Walt Snyders book on Ithaca shotguns. It is the definitive reference book and is available from Walt.

    I have a late model 4E that has "Alpen" on the left side. Is that a signed gun?
