I don't know if any hope can be read into this, but as I've experienced sometimes taking a non hunter/anti gun person shooting or hunting can sometimes change minds. One can only hope!!!!

Justice Kagan says Scalia is game hunting partner
    Associated Press – Fri, Oct 19, 2012

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Antonin Scalia are ideological opposites, yet they share a pastime. They like to hunt together.

Kagan amused an audience Friday at the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville with stories of how the conservative Scalia taught her to shoot fowl.

She said Scalia told her in the spring, "It's time to move on to the big game."

She said the two will go hunting in Wyoming this weekend and she hopes to bag an antelope.

The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/PGMX4m) reports that Kagan didn't discuss politics or current cases during her appearance.

Kagan, who was nominated by President Barack Obama and joined the court in 2010, expressed thanks to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor for blazing a trail for the women who followed them.

Many people , including some on the SCOTUS see the 2nd Amendment tied to hunting only.

They ignore that the real purpose was to keep government in check.

Don't be distracted by tidbit thrown to the people. It is meaningless.

    What party line????

The juctices are supposrd to be impartial.

The only disregard to reality are those who do not believe ALL are rights are in danger from believers in big government.

If Kagen truly believed in the 2nd Amendment as Constutionals do, she would have never been appointed.

Just because someone is a hunter does not mean they support the Second Amendment.

We see trap shooters posting here often who do not believe in Second Amendment rights.

Forget the 2nd Amendment, what I can't believe, is the allegation that she engages in shooting animals.

This sounds like the "Mr. Rogers was a gut-ripping special forces commando" internet story, to me. (You know, the one where they said he had a black ops tattoo on his arm, and that's why he always wore long sleeves?)
