Is LM too open a choke for 1st shot on doubles?

    I've got a question.

    Is a LM choke too open for the 1st shot on doubles ?

    Depends on how fast you are to the bird.

    I would say that if LM is too open for your first shot, you are going to have a very tough time getting the second bird.

    LM will work fine. Geez,...

    anything from IC to IM will work, regardless of how slow you shoot...

    Even the 2nd bird is only a long singles target...

    The reason I ask is I have a Perrazi with a #8 & #4 choke. The #8 is just fine for 2nd shot but I was wondering about the #4 for the first shot.

    I guess I'll shoot a couple of rounds and find out,

    a #4 and an #8 will work just fine for you...

    You would be way better off with a #2 and a #6. A #6 will easily break targets from the 27 and WAY distant 2nd barrel bunker targets. I use a 2/6 or 4/6(windy days) combo to shoot bunker and pigeons. And I'm nothing special talent-wise. Use less choke - break more targets

    I have 0, 2, 4 & 8. No # 6. :(

    I think I'll try 2,4 & 4 & 8 and see how they break.
