I'm sure plenty of folks remember this story, but we came into contact with Ronald Comerford's daughter and wanted to share it with everyone.

That was the most information I have ever read on his Fete of creating the pone piece wad, I had heard his name years ago and did not tie it to the one pice wad, what a magnificent design he had come up with, and there was not one he could copy.

He was a man with a mission and no charts or chronographs to check out his fete.

I stand up and congratulate you Rom Comerford for your patents.

A great story for sure!! Thanks Ron for sharing your "idea" with the world of shotgunning!!! You single handedly changed the world of shot shell efficiency for better shot shells both new and reloaded ammo!!

I remember when Winchester first made the AA12 wads available to us reloaders in 65/66. What a pleasure it was to re-load shot shells compared to the confetti specials we shot prior!

In reading the entire article, I paid attention to Ron's mentioning he tried to load a 1200 FPS load. I wonder why he choose that velocity number in 1958? 3 dram loading possibly?

My hats off to this man and thank him for sharing!

I really like this type of information. Perhaps some of you who own historical guns related to trapshooting (or something close) might post up some pictures and information.

    Best Wishes,

Something few people know other than those that know him personally is that at one time-I think it was in the late 70's or early 80's, he also designed and sold a gun called the Cumerford Gun. It was manufactured either in Spain or Italy and was pretty much a copy of a Ljutic. If I remember correctly, he was sued to stop production. I know one shooter that still has a "Cumerford Gun".

I was able to confirm with the family that it was manufactured in Spain. They are trying to find some old pictures and additional details on it. I'll be sure to post something here if I hear more.
