I'm looking for any information about a 12 gauge Beretta Bl-5. When were they made, are they a "good" shotgun for hunting, reliable, well made, etc... Also I would rate this shotgun at 80-85%. I believe the barrels are 28" TIA, Randy Price

    They are an ok gun
I had one as a kid and for that reason I still have a couple
    I have a BL-1 and a BL-5
To shoot a few times a year they are ok
But they will kick you some...

Aparently they kick pretty good with that nasty flinch you got there.

Thanks SpeedyWho for the information. How can you tell how each barrel is choked?

Thanks SpeedyWho for the info. I did remove the forearm and on the top barrel there was a + and on the bottom barrel there was ++++ I think. I'm assuming the top barrel is full and the bottom barrel is improved cylinder which seems kind of odd. I would have expected F/M or M/IC. Go figure. Regards, Randy Price

SpeedyWho, after a closer examination it is choked M/F. The gun was made in '68 and has 30" barrels. I bought it for $ 550.00.
