Steve, I agree with you 100%. It very easy for contributors to put things out and not be accountable in any way for what they say, especially for those who hide behind the anonymity that one can have in this type of forum. I'm old school - wouldn't submit a comment that I wouldn't say to you in person. Trevor Dawe

I agree there are a lot of unwelcomed and unwarranted comments, that are made for only one reason and that is to stir things up. Opinions are given on things that they have no personal knowlwdge of.

Opinions are like A$$holes, everyone has one. It appears that Trapshooters.Com has it's share of opinated A$$holes.

Your heart might be in the right place, but your logic is messed up. TS.com is not here to police the morons in the crowd and neither are the advertisers. This forum is no socialism and everyone can have their opinion, good or bad.

Saying that you will not support the advertisers because some other random idiot said something stupid on a public forum is absurd.

I agree with Rick. The political section should be eliminated. It is not being used the way it was intended.

I disagree that the political section be eliminated. It provides for an exchange of differing opinions which is usually healthy. In fact, although I am a political junkie, I have read things here which were news to me. That being said, everyone should remember that we are guests in this site and should be respectful. Also, I would advise posters not to wtrite anything here that they would not say in person.

What I find more annoying is the illiteracy with which some individuals post their comments. I have read some posts several times and still could not understand them. Also, there are several people who post here whose posts I refuse to read either because of their tortured use of the English language or because their their ideas are anathema.

However, for the most part, the people who post here are civil and have something valid to say. I just wish some of them would express themselves more coherently.

Free speech does not exist on a privately own web site.

The owner can censor or delete any content they don't like or agree with.

They can also ban people from posting.

The fact that they don't means that they are either OK with it or don't have the time to deal with it. I'm guessing the latter. From what I can see, there are no moderators here.

Just like those who have posted above I understand your position. However, I echo that we need to support those who actually offer informative information to this site.

As far as policing free speech, there is no free speech on a forum. It is privately owned and therefore it is under the discretion of the administrators to run and operate such forum as seen fit. Look below the reply window and you will find the last sentence pretty much sums it up.

I look primarily at the thread topic and determine whether or not I open up the thread. If you find the thread to be offensive or just plain irritating then you have the option just close that thread and move on.

I'm not buying anymore Dial soap or Coca-Cola because the program on TV last night was pathetic.

Exact same line of thinking. We can't do it like that.

In the early 60s when I was introduced to the great sport of clay target shooting, the older sportsmen of the game did the range policing and did a marvelous job! Fast forward to the electronic world of TS and peoples ability to hide behind a screen name they feel they can say what they choose without any consequences!! Did our MODERATORS retire?

Like Trevor Dawe, Vern and many many other true sportsmen of the sport, what I have to say would be said face to also!

One of my pet peeves happens when the gherks go completely off the topic subject on a different tangent because they can't add any pertinent dialog information. It then turns into a name calling contest and destroys that discussion completely! They certainly wouldn't dare do that at the clubs during such discussions for fear of receiving an idiots portion of lip service or other measures! Most would be farther ahead to read and learn instead of adding nonsense and looking like the fools they are! Far better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool instead of opening it and confirming the fact!

Why don't you guys burn a few books you don't like while you're at it. 1st Amendment....remember that thing??

If you don't like'em...don't read'em. No need to make the advertisers suffer.

The best moderating is by the participants of this sight. With 2012 elections the trolls are out early and their ranks are sure to grow. Quit feeding these trolls by responding to them and focus on common interests. I completely agree with Hap regarding going off topic and hijacking threads, stick to the topic or start your own thread. Political threads that deal with our Constitutional and Second Amendment rights are important topics that need to be discussed.

One particular fishing forum I belong to does a very good job of keeping off topic threads separated from the main focus of the sight. They simply dis-allow
any dialogue off topic from the main forum and provide an open forum area for everything else.
