I received an email today from a nice fellow telling me that he is contracted to kill me. I can postpone the hit by sending him $1000 immediately. This will buy me some time and then he will send me a tape of the discussion "where my enemies have decided to have me killed."

If, when I get the tape, and hear the immediacy of my death I should then send him an additional $7000 and "perhaps" he can talk my enemies into withdrawing the contract on my life.

He also warned me that calling any authorities will result in my death within 24 hours as well as my family members.

The most upsetting thing about the email is the revelation that my worth is only $8000, total. Jeez I could sell a lung for more than that.

Pretty threatening scam. I would take it to the police though on the off chance they can catch the creep or at least shut him down.

    Geez,

The thought of your body, parted out up on blocks in the front yard next to the old 944, is disturbing. What will the neighbors think?

BTW, you should ask him which family members. There may be a plus side to this.

I actually did call the Police. Not because of any fear I have but I don't want to see some fearful person scammed.

They came to my office and asked me not to delete the message since they have a group that deals with Internet fraud and they considered that a "terroristic threat."

I would have asked for an armed guard but I can do that pretty well for myself.

In the event it comes true I'd like to say goodbye to some of you :)

They did not mention which family members but I'll be glad to send them your email address Mr Brooks. Maybe you can use their services.

Yeah, Haux is a laugh-riot. And very supportive.

    From the FBI site:

"A new scam cropping up in e-mail boxes across the country is preying not on recipients’ greed or good intentions, but on their fears. The scam e-mail, which first appeared in December, threatens to kill recipients if they do not pay thousands of dollars to the sender, who purports to be a hired assassin."

By your going to the police, isn't that going to get Bud & Skip into a lot of trouble?

Nah Pete, those two clowns aren't smart enough to have thought of this. I am concerned about my wife however. She keeps looking at her watch and asking me what time I got the email.

I just glanced at the topic and thought it said Wife,(not life).

Funny, I got the same message a few months ago and told the idiot
"you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip).

Jerry, tell him he's asking waaaay too much for your life.

Point out some of your character flaws and see if he'll drop the price.

    Send him photos.

Thanks, great idea Jim. This outpouring of support really warms my heart.

I'm on the verge of turning into road kill or worse and the jokes don't stop coming.

You'll all miss me when I'm gone.

I wish my wife would quit watching the time. What's with that?

Seems way to high. I think the going rate was much less for a contract in a big city you could get ride of a whole family for that much.

I'd send them a counter offer send me $8000 and I won't Stalk them. Joe

Yo Joe, I already sent you money. Now I want something in return like my stock. Stop cracking wise and get busy! Of course it's all moot since I have hours to live.

Coach, now that I think about it after your comment my self esteem is rising.

    Still here and kicking.

The real bad news would be if you sent the guy the money to " "perhaps" he can talk my enemies into withdrawing the contract on my life.", and next he calls and says "is your wife there?"

Brooks my wife has been acting "peculiar" ever since I received the email. She keeps looking at me, looking at the clock, and I noticed she has some life insurance certificates on her desk.

I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree but I can add 2 plus 2.
