Well the new legislative session started with a bill to tax each Illinois handgun owner a $65 PER GUN "registration fee." And, to do it again every 5 years.

And, it just gets better and better............ Now the legislature has another bill that will impose a 2% "sin tax" on ALL AMMO SALES in the state. We sure didn't know we were sinning to buy ammo, but we must have been, or so Rahm and the Dems would like us to believe (and pay).

And the money will go to fund a grant program for hospitals to patch up "indigent" dopers and gang bangers. That is if you believe there will be any of the money left after it passes through the always honest and safe hands of the Illinois state government.

So bring some extra money to Sparta. You'll be paying for the healthcare and recovery of some of Chicago's finest citizens.

    And ALWAYS REMEMBER...................

---- No man's life, liberty or PROPERTY are safe while the legislature is in session. / Mark Twain

    and.....

---- The power to tax, is the power to destroy!! / John Marshall

The "progressives" will never stop trying to ban firearms, or at least restrict them to the wealthy and/or ruling "classes". That is the ultimate holy grail which would enable to institute their final socialist dreams, so they will keep trying to find ways around the 2nd amendment, or even repeal it if they can.

The price of freedom is, and will ever be, eternal vigilance.

I agree that Illinois, particularly Chicago Land, is as bad as it gets. Just don't let that take your eyes off your own state's gun ownership rights.

The Anti-gun nutballs are is every state.

THe bad part about all of this is they are trying. Just trying is a problem. Others might also get the idea to try. If they do get the bill passed others states will follow.

This was talked about years ago to tax guns and ammo to the point you can't afford to buy or to keep guns and ammo. Obama had this planned before he started to run for Pre.

Hope the bill falls flat on its face. Come on NRA.

Illinois is about the only state that can raise individual income tax over 100% promising to get the debt down and balance the budget (which was one of the reasons for the 'boats', too) and a year later we're worse off than before.
My wife and I both think we'd like to see the complete financial records of all teh elected scum in the state for the past two years (offshore included in the records) and see just how many are banking/spending far more than their income.

At least four initiatives pending that don't bode well for us in the Republik......ban on all semiautomatic firearms (I don't use the word "weapons"), confiscation of same, a surtax on ammunition, and Rahminator's fundraiser plan (for when he runs for governor, king or president) $65/handgun tax with a renewal necessary after five years. Don't think once they are registered that you'll have them after five years....if big O gets reelected. Germany and a few select others did the registration thing which was followed by confiscation
I didn't use to be so paranoid but I didn't pay as much attention to what went on in government then either.

Due to divorce, my son was heavily influenced by his maternal grandfather. The guy was a die hard unionist. My son told me I better not vote republican as they are out to take your guns, his Union business agent told him so. Illinois is a union strong hold. The other great money producing idea in Illinois is the $5.00 strip club tax. The state wants a tax to enter strip clubs(unless you show your elected official card). Any state north of the Mason Dixon line that is Democratic is anti gun, protax with Illinois leading the pack. I am in Illinois and will be leaving quite soon.
