I guess 1oz. of #8 is plenty from the 16 yd. line. Do I want a heavier load once I start moving back/ This is all new to me, thanks for the help.

Good for singles, handicap, and even doubles. Words on hot, cold, rainy, or even VERY windy days - works from the 16 to the 27. Eats birds like there is no tomorrow.
Wasn't a very hard decision, but since I have the choice of more than one load in real life, I use something different for everything.
AA 1oz 8's or Federal 1oz 8 1/2 Gold Medal.....don't recall missing many targets because I was using the wrong load...just wasn't pointing in the right place...and 1oz loads are just a whole lost easier on my shoulder and face.
1 1/8 ounce #8s - 1145 fps. for the folks with the hotter loads, I guess you don't shoot doubles, but if you do, I bet you do it poorly.
