If these people ran things in 1776 -- we would be singing God Save the Queen before watching cricket.

If these people ran things in 1860 -- Robert E. Lee would be on the $50 bill.

If these people ran things in 1941 -- we would be speaking German east of the Rockies and Japanese in California.

If these people ran things in 1980 to 1992 -- the Berlin wall would be a good bit taller.

If these people ran things on September 11 -- they would have sent lawyers to serve subpoenas

If these people think you can talk and reason with vicious animals who would cut your head off before running to put a bomb on your kid's school bus -- they are truly fools

    But there is hope.
May God Bless each and every man and woman serving with honor and decency in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Personally I am glad the North won, but that was not my point.

My point is that without a strong leader behind him, Grant would have lost to Lee.

Not sure I follow your point.
Can we agree that a strong leader gives strength to those who consent to being led and that a weak leader in a time of crisis is no leader at all?

Unfortunately, the Southerners were too dumb to pick their own cotton...
for that reason alone, they deserved to be beaten.
