    It seems to be Swedish chrome molly stainless steel.

    Solingen is a city in northern Germany.

    It is also the name of a knife manufacturer from the same area.

    Barfin's got it. It's a David Everts Medium Stag Hunter. Originally sold with a leather sheath. BTW, over the years, there have been over 200 knife makers from Solingen.

    I have one very similar to that one. It was given to me 40yrs ago, the guy said it was too hard to sharpen.
    It is hard, but does it hold that edge when sharp.
