    I think we

Having given the subject of lighter payload shells be mandated by the ATA, I think is wrong.

My suggestion would be 1 1/4 oz minimum payloads driven no less than 1200 fps. This would be a much better test of a shooters ability to keep his head down and into the gun. I could only imagine the last 100 targets of a 200 target singles event. The amount of flinching would be a site!

The secondary advantage of such a rules change would be for the vendors. People would be buying release triggers, recoil systems, and having barrels ported by the truck load.

Ever shoot bunker with 2 shots per bird? 1 & 1/4 oz loads, too.

    HM,

Those nice light responcive O/U's with 1 1/4 oz payloads at 1300 fps. Reminds me of when I first started shooting games with a Ruger Red Label. Try not to flinch when shooting 1 1/4 oz 1350fps loads.

    atashooter,

    Please reread the first sentence.

No rule changes just a lot of discussion about what to do about only the 27 yrd shooters winning all the time.(which is not really true) Some have proposed longer yardage shooting and some lighter shells for a variety of reasons both are just discussions and don't worry for at least a few years.

I think we ought to mandate no gauge larger than a .410 and you can shoot as much shot as you can squeeze into a 2-1/2 inch shell.

That would skew the results a little and put some randomness into the equation, since I think with a .410, even the good shooters will get a lost target on occasion even when they point the gun perfectly.
