I was at a local gun club recently and the owner had an expensive good quality gun for sale. A shooter was interested and requested to shoot a couple rounds with the gun before he possibly purchased the gun.

The owner said no problem, as long as you use new shells and not reloads. The guy asking to test fire the gun was taken a back by his request that only new shells be used. The guy than declined to shoot the gun.

After he left, the owner told me that he is now requesting new shells be used on all of his guns. He said If one blows up he knows who to call, and this practice also eliminates the tire kickers that have no real intention of purchasing the gun in the first place.

I think this is a good idea. What do you think?

Seems very reasonable. His gun his rules. Why take unnecessary chances. Mike.

It wouldn't slow me down one bit if I were interested in it. The cost of the ammo is insignificant compared to the price of the gun. A very good plan.

My Dad would never, let anyone shoot one of his guns unless they shot his shells, or New Shells,I always thought that was a sound practice.

How can you blame the guy for wanting someone to shoot factory ammo. I would want the same.

What is interesting is that his request for new shells also eliminated the tire kickers as he put it. The people who just wanted to try to shoot a different gun. I have no idea if any of those so called tire kickers would have liked to purchase the gun after shooting it. Like everyone says, it's his gun, house rules.

a friend of mine went to shoot a gun he was interested in and the owner demanded that only premium shells be used, either Federal or Remington. I thought it was a little overboard, but the owner explained he didn't want any steel primers in his gun.

If the seller wants to sell his gun,he should provide the ammo, reloads or factory, whatever the seller likes.
The seller dont have to give away boxes, but let the potential buyer have 5.
