    ...Hitler quotes:

“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” - Adolf Hitler

“What luck for rulers that men do not think.” - Adolf Hitler

“It is not truth that matters, but victory.” - Adolf Hitler

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.” - Adolf Hitler

“He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.” - Adolf Hitler

“The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.” - Adolf Hitler

“The victor will never be asked if he told the truth.” - Adolf Hitler

“I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few.” - Adolf Hitler

“The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one.” - Adolf Hitler

I honestly cannot understand how anyone regardless of their politics, cannot see what this administration is trying to accomplish. Increased entitlements, opening of borders, socialized healthcare, Obama is moving this country toward his Communist ideas and yet many good Americans are standing back and allowing him to do it solely because they have voted Democratic all their lives and they will not change. This guy is no idiot, he knows exactly what he's doing and he will lie, deceive and probably even take out whoever should stand in his way of accomplishing this goal on America. He must be defeated in November for the sake of our kids and grandkids if for no other reason!

When government spreads the wealth, the result is increased dependance on the federal government. Increased dependance on the federal government stagnates the economy and reduces opportunities for every one.

Unfortunately for us, the average voter is more concerned with today's handouts and has little concern or understanding of where next year's handout will come from. As Benjamin Franklin said "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner". With the election of Obama, the wolves are now in control.

Well spoken Hank. It is absolutely incredible that so called "open minded" people continue to support O'Bama.

    From Wiki:

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Widely attributed to Benjamin Franklin on the internet, sometimes without the second sentence, it is not found in any of his known writings, and the word "lunch" is not known to have appeared anywhere in english literature until the 1820s, decades after his death.

The phrasing itself has a very modern tone and the second sentence especially might not even be as old as the internet. Some of these observations are made in response to a query at Google Answers.

In 1992, Marvin Simkin wrote in Los Angeles Times, Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote.[1]

A far rarer but somewhat more credible variation also occurs: "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner."

Web searches on these lines uncovers the earliest definite citations for such a statement credit libertarian author James Bovard with a similar one in the Sacramento Bee (1994):
"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner."

This statement also definitely occurs in the "Conclusion" (p. 333) of his book Lost Rights: The Destruction of American Liberty (1994) ISBN 0312123337

Variants of this statement include that by Larry Flynt, as quoted in "Flynt's revenge" by Carol LLoyd in Salon (23 February 1999)]: Majority rule will only work if you're considering individual rights. You can't have five wolves and one sheep vote on what they want to have for supper."

Is the free dinner (or lunch) the fatal flaw in the concept of Democracy? Are there any safe guards in our constitution that would prevent a non-productive majority to live off of an ever shrinking productive minority?

We have a Constitution and this is a Republic. If we stick to the Constitution and operate as a Republic we can avoid the pitfalls. The problems arise when politicians and judges read things into the Constitution that are not there.

The end result with a Republic is the same. Instead of free lunchers voting directly for increased handouts, our representatives vote in their place in order to get re-elected.

The only thing that might save us is a constitutional amendment capping government spending to a percentage of GDP. Even then, politicians could gut defense spending for more handouts, or shift the tax burden more to the productive few.

ou.3200 hit it on the head. The constitution is seldom heeded. All of this interpreting by egg headed scholars has rendered it toothless. It is a relatively simple document painstakingly worded to be taken literally.

If you want an interesting book to read, pick up:
"Who Killed the Constitution?: The Fate of American Liberty From World War I to George W. Bush" by Thomas Woods.

You'll only be able to read it a bit at a time while you put it down and stomp around the house mad as hell.

It will take a completely different set Supreme Court Justice's to ever get us back to the original intent.
