Tilley hats work well for hot days. Sportsman's Warehouse carries them.

Plain old white straw hat from Wal-Mart. Throw it away when sweaty,

Bailey in the Summer, Stetson in the Winter. Neither can be beat, to my way of thinking. J.Woolsey

Like Curt recommends, get a Keys Flats fishing hats from Bass Pro. I have used one for years fishing and don't see why one would not work for trap.

You probably will not need the shoelace style chin strap as you don't go very fast from station to station on a trap field. The chin strap comes in handy in a fast bass boat.

And while you are at Bass Pro you can get some shot for $59.99 a bag and Winchester 209 primers for $5.99 a hundred. HMB

Why would you need a new hat? Just tell your wife that she needs to stand behind you and hold the umbrella over you so your in the shade or wont she do what you command of her to do?
