One of the many pleasures of the summer time here in Michigan is the great produce stands that we have peppered all over the outlying areas and especially the tomato stands. Well, to make a long story short, as many of you know, I really enjoy a good tomato sandwich just about every day during the short tomato season. It's pretty simple really, just a thick slice of tomato, a little mayo and 2 pieces of really good bread and there you have it....one HELL of a great sandwich.

Anyway, the bread that I've always really liked is "Sabrina's Italian". I get it up at the Kroger and you spend a bit more for it, but it's well worth the extra buck. So, I buy my favorite bread and when I try to open it, it no longer has one of those plastic with wire twist ties that help keep it fresh. No, no more twist ties for Sabrina's....they use a stupid piece of tape that you CAN NOT reuse to help keep the bread fresh. So, you have to either find a twist tie or figure something else out to seal the bag.

Can Sabrina's really be saving that much money?? This is pathetic.

It is the way of the world, "It's For Your Saftey", it's a tamper proof seal so you know if somebody messed with it.

I smell an attorney here somewhere (at SABRINA's that us).

Hey Tron, try this sandwhich next time. I sautee some sliced onions for about 5 minutes, put them on a multi grain toasted bread, a little Phille cream cheese then top with tomato and lettuce. Pepper to taste, or Italian dressing.

Dam, I'm going to go make one now. Plenty of fresh tomatoes in the garden begging to be picked.

Oh, replace the twist tie, with a rubber band.

Yes, I am aware that McMaster Carr carries a wide variety of twist ties, but I don't feel that I should have to correct Sabrina's marketing blunders.

Sabrina's has, in their own special way, ruined my summer and that is something that I can't get back.

Federal uses the same type tape to close their wad bags.

Being that one generally uses a whole bag of wads at once, it's not quite the catastrophe as this.

Tron, I just go a loaf of "Earthgrains" out of the freezer, and it has a twist tie on it so I can get a couple of slices out and close up it up and back in the freezer to stay fresh.

    I feel your pain.

    Tron, I am like you.

I can handle life's big problems, but simple things like this really disrupt my balance of sanity.

Tron, I didn't realize that one of the best sandwiches ever was enjoyed by anyone other than southerners. LOL That's one hard to beat sandwich, especially with fresh picked tomatoes. Makes me hungery just writing about it. Jackie B.

Plastic bag clips were invented, many years ago, in Yakima WA., home of the Mono Gun. Nadine knows the company and would probably give you the information, if asked.

They would probably ship a sample which would solve this stressful problem.

Tron, it is for your own safety.

They figured that someone may use a twisty to hang themselves, and so they went to a piece of tape. Safer for you. lol
