I feel we do not have an option with Clinton or Obama for President. I've read a lot of negatives on here about McCain. Let's hear something about Huckabee--good or bad.

    Thank you

Huckabee professes to be a Christian, but does not act like one. His treatment of Rommeny proved it. Huckabee played the r card the religion card and it was a cheap shot. The presidency is not about religion but about who will do the best job for the country. The way things shape up now there is not a candidate that won't take our guns, open the border, give us I say give! us universal health care, raise taxes and generally muck things up. Why because not one of em stands for something other than themselves. History will treat Bush better than Clinton or his dad because at least he has some integrity. Enough rant, the elections depress me. Mike

Huckabee has baggage but he is not a gun grabber. Rather, is a real sportsman - hunting and fishing. so he is not all bad

gotbass huckabee is very pro gun so you are wrong on that.he has a permit to carry a concealed weapon. he is also not for open borders. i went to here him speak when he was in my town and he spelled out his beliefs on illegals. i don't agree 100% with him on that issue but his plan is better than anybodies but tancredo.not trying to start an argument just don't agree with everything you stated. he is a baptist minister also.jackmitch

Like it or not Obama will be your next President.I don't like it.

Bush has killed the Repulican party.

The front runner now in the republican party, says we will stay in Iraq if it takes years.

The people are sick of this. They want change and that is what you are going to get.

At the rate of $720,000,000 a day for the war,we need to tell them people
    to get their #hit togather.

You asked for opinoins,Huckabee is another Pat Robinson.

    Please pass the plate.

It's got to the point I don't trust anyone in politics let alone a preacher.

Huckabee seems like a decent guy, he's in the right place on a lot of issues but he's too closely associated with the evangelical movement to suit me. Damn hippies took over the Democratic Party fourty years ago------now the bible-thumpers have almost completely taken over the Republican Party. Neither of 'em represent ME! Sometimes I think ol' Barry Goldwater would have a $hit hemmorage if he could see what's happened to his conservative wing of the Republican Party? Anyway------I'm supportin' John McCain.

Huckabee's a pretty good musician, maybe he could play in the band at McCain's inaugaral ball?

No doggai. The religion is the FIRST thing we need; in government, in schools, in everyday life. When you take religion out of everything you end up where we are now. No values , no morals, etc..............

At least with Huckabee, we get pro-gun, pro fence at the border, some morals, and a shot at a flat tax. Since the media keeps tieing him to the religeous right, he probably doesn't have a chance. From what I've seen he is probably the best candidate left. Clinton is a liar and flip/flop, Obama doesn't have clue, McCain has became a conservative turncoat for votes. Obama is the scariest. He has no facts, backup, or method to impliment his "Green" platform that will bankrupt business, raise taxes, and ruin the economy. He also has a "give it away" entitlement, mentality. Is this the best both parties have to offer???

Huckabee says he believes the world is about 5,000 years old.

That's all I needed to hear.

Thanks for all the input. I was curious as to why with four people on the "active" list yet why there is a lot of discussion about Obama and Clinton being very liberal and anti-gun and ready to raise our taxes (which in my view, as a shooter, disqualifies them.)

On the Republican side it seems all I've read is about McCain. Very little pro, including somewhat anti-gun, and also liberal.

I value my right to own and bear arms, and being a trapshooting addict it seems there would be more people on these threads that would talking more about Huckabee being a pro-shooter, pro-gun candidate than what there is. Now we can go with all the little trivial things, but it is in my opinion as trapshooters the 2nd ammendment should be #1. Just my opinion.

Here is what I have heard Huckabee say.

Within 18 months of inaguation he will have the fence built.

He has taken a no tax increase pledge.

He is for the Fair tax.

I know he is pro 2 amendment.

I first heard Huckabee when he was a pastor many years ago. I enjoyed his sermon but thought at the time that he sounded more like a politician rather than a preacher.

So, I wasn't suprised when he ran in our Governor's race.

He has been what I call a "so-so" Governor. Somewhat of a lightweight in my book. Hasn't done anything bad but really hasn't accomplished anything either.

His claim to fame is his weight loss. While that is admiral that doesn't qualify him to be President.

I lost a lot of respect for him when his wife ran for a State office. I thought the perception, if nothing else, stunk. And it showed poor judgment on his part.

He is somewhat of a showman. When the Governor's mansion was being refurbished he and his wife lived in a double wide mobile home parked on the mansion grounds. He got a lot of good press out of that. You know "Arkansas Governor is one of us" sort of thing. What the press didn't talk about, however, is what was spent on the refurbished mansion.

He has for sure made some dumb mistakes. Like pardoning a convicted rapist who later killed someone else. His son has made some stupid mistakes. Like trying to get through airport security with a handgun in his carry on luggage.

But despite all his short comings I think I would still vote for him as his values are closer to mine than any of the other candidates.

I mean - what other choices are there ?

He is what I would call "The Best of the SOB's"

He may suck but he's better than McCain.

McCain could star in a horror flick,
got that strange look in his eye,
and not sure all the faculties upstairs are still present.
At least Huckabee is very well spoken,
and that's what it takes to win the general election in this,
how do they look and speak,Wal-Mart voter mentality.
I Don't think McCain has a chance in the general election,
At least Huckabee would have a small prayer, pardon the pun.
