I was hit by a copper jacket from a .308 (7.62 NATO) round that was fired at a steel plate on the 50 yard sand berm. I was a few ports over shooting 100 yd
when the guy firing the .308 hit the plate dead on - the jacket peeled off the core like a tiny onion ring flew back and landed on my stomach and started burning my skin through my shirt. I didn't realize anything had happened until I felt the burn. Left a red welt. Luckily the core of the bullet buried itself into the plate completely leaving a deep, 5/8" deep crater about the diameter of a nickel.

New club rule - no steel under 100 yards.

Who said you don't hear the shot that kills you!!!!! In this case it sure would have been heard had he not been so lucky.
