What's important is regardless of how it's spelled or what its language origin is, that you pronounce it the way "they" pronounce it.

I'd suggest calling them and asking them.

It's American Indian or Native American { if you are PC } meaning is " Valley that swallows my money " especially when I take Deb there. They are very good folks and I will continue to do business there for a long time. If you like a large selection of fine shotguns,, it's hard to beat.

Who would have guessed.....? The proper pronunciation, or blkcloud's mastery of phonetics? Well done bc!

There's a town near us spelled Taneytown. While I wanted to pronounce it with a long a sound when I first moved here, the local yokels corrected me with contempt stating it was properly pronounced Tawneytown. Go figure...

The beloved president of my local gun club pronounces his last name in a seemingly strange manner also (at least to me). I got kicked out of the third grade for shaving, and he's bigger than me, what do I know???

Yes, it's up to them and I would pronounce it however they answered the phone. If it's spelled Moon and they say Bob, who are we to say different?

In Louisiana there is a town, Natitoches and it's pronounced nak-a-dish. Go figure.

There's a town in Michigan spelled "Charlotte", but pronounced with emphasis on the last syllable. Took forever to get used to it, then moved to Colorado and had to shift gears all over again. Oh, and how about Berlin in 'sconsin, with the emphasis on the first syllable.

I think some people are just arbitrary.
