The "average shooter" probably shoots zero registered targets annually.

The average ATA shooter would show a somewhat different figure.

The average American shooter has, in all actuality, most likely not shot trap in the last three years.....

my buddy and I shoot 600-800 16's and handicap each year. maybe 100-200 doubles. Would like more but we don't have registered until April and then only Sundays. Lots of conflicts with family doings

About 16,000 a year, would do more but you hurt your wrist, and I slowed down.

    It's all your fault.

I shoot about 2,000 singles and 1,500 handicap registered targets. About five times that for practice, league, and fun shoots. Fred

    FlaLagarto,

There is no such thing as an "average shooter".
    They are all differebnt.

I shoot approximately 12,000 reloads a year including mostly 12 ga trap loads plus some 28 ga and .410 at 5-stand and skeet. Usully about 3,500 at registered trap per year.

This is my third year in ATA, 8,100 registered birds, about double that for practice and fun.

Whenever I am thinking about how to improve our sport I keep in mind what I consider to be a "typical" trapshooter. This is a person who shoots between 3,000-4,000 birds a year. He attends several local shoots and his state shoot and is a B-21-C shooter.

If my vision of a hypothetical typical shooter is accurate, I am not typical.

79,222,830 total targets / 34770 shooters = nearly 2,300 targets per shooter. But this simple average does not mean much unless we consider the standard error or some other measure of the variance around the average. We have a lot of members who only shoot 100 targets and drop out. We have some members who shoot 20,000 + targets per year.

14,500 this year. I sometimes eat for two, looks like I'm shooting for 5.
