OK 'fess up folks. How many of you folks do this as well? Today my buddy called and wanted to meet at the club to do a little trap shooting. I grab all my stuff and roll out there. I'm the first one there so what do I do? Despite the fact that I have over 90 gallons (about 6500) of once fired STS, Nitro 27 and Gun Club hulls at home the first thing I do is go through all the hull barrels for once fired Remington hulls. A lot of rooting around yielded about 75 clean dry once fired Gun Club hulls which now reside in my loading room.

I picked up about 150 once fired AA's on Wednesday. They want to drop them, I'll pick them up. It's like finding $5.00 bills.

I was shooting a sporting clay tournament not too long ago and there were new 28 ga AA's and 12 ga AA's laying all over the place and I/we(my team) started gathering them up at each station as we moved along. I almost forgot about the tournament. LOL Almost like a kid in a toy store. Jackie B.

I have heard some gun clubs have rules that if the hull hits the ground it is theirs and you are not allowed to pick them up for yourself. Is this true?

We used to shoot with a fella that had more hulls than he would ever use and when he was straight going into the last trap all you had to do was drop a few new hulls in front of him. He was sure to miss thinking of the new hulls.

I don't so much like to shoot trap.

I like to pick up hulls and reload.

Rick - we have a skeet shooter like that up here in Alaska, too. drop a new .410 hull in front of him, he'll drop the next pair.

Rick, we didn't hold anyone up while picking up hulls and we were told we could pick up the hulls. Jackie B.

At a local club, management encourages shooters to pick up any/all hulls...my last bit of pride goes away when dumpster diving for new STS or Nitro hulls. Best Regards, Ed

Rick--I have dropped one of my empties before during an event by accident. It will bug me until i'm done with that post and can pick it back up and put it in my hull bag. God forbid i notice good ones laying on the ground while changing posts.

After one of the US open shoots at WSRC, one of the State workers filled my pickup bed twice with the empties. When my wife got home and realized she had lost her parking spot to several dozen white Flyer Boxes full of hulls she was more than a little pi$$ed. I felt like i had struck Gold. Its a disease with me.

You have enough hulls when you have built a 12" deep false floor across your entire home, with removable panels marked with what's underneath, and filled it with hulls. You have to stoop a bit when going through doors but it's a small price to pay.
