I just finished watching the thread about the afghanistan veteran/firefighter who came home to the many salutes on the highway. Never thought about it much, but how many on here are firefighters? I dont care if youre volunteer, paid, or whatever, just let us know who you are. Thank you,
    Kevin McIlwain

    Does Professional EMS count ????

We are the "red-headed step-child" of the big 3. It has always been that way for my 21 years and is likley to continue that path. We do a lot of good too, but are rarely given any credit.

Hell yes EMS counts, you guys are saving more lives on a daily basis than LE and FF save on a monthly basis...

I've been on our department for 25 years. I have a trucking company so my job is to drive and operate the fire truck, something about being able to back through traffic with mirrors. Thanks to all that serve.

Never meant to offend anyone by not asking about EMS. I began there, may years ago, still have my EMT-B cert. Many places its integrated so there isnt really much difference.
Thanks again to all who serve!

You did not offend me at all, it is just the way it is. I have no idea why it remains that way in today's times and the abilities we have for direct care in the field.
