I have noted that the standard K80 engraving pattern is more or less the same from gun to gun, but sometimes looks like the work of a master and sometimes like the apprentice started yesterday.

Gabe, iv'e been told by a couple of posters on here that when they talked to Krieghoff people, their opinion of Gene is when it comes to Krieghoffs he doesn't know his arse fron a hole in the ground. Mike.

I was told there are three different standard grade patterns for the model K-80.

First is the 1980's "Logo" style, which reads, "K-80" in the original K-80 Art Deco style. Then, that was followed by two different modestly applied conventional styles of engraving. I do not know when the change occurred between the three styles. But, disregarding the Logo style, you will sometimes hear folks talk about the "old" and "new" patterns of standard engraving.

Lately, I've noticed some of the bigger dealers are offering new product with the Art Deco "Logo" type of engraving again. Example: Great Lakes.

    Now a tidbit

Even the standard engraving pattern used to be hand engraved- which means you could even have variance with different people

I had the privilege of touring the Krieghoff factory in Ulm. I saw a guy doing engravings. He had a paper of the design, did some layout with dividers so the pattern would be centered. Then proceeded with the tool between neck and should tap on the backside with a mallet as he cut the pattern on the receiver. I was surprised, very craftsmen like process. They were very welcoming with the tour, my German is weak so I scheduled ahead with english speaking technician, I still have his contact if you want to call he's normally in Ottsville, PA.

Here is another tidbit- look at the corners and the bottoms- you will see a difference on what you think is the same patterns

Do you think maybe they get charged differently for different coverage?

Maybe the order was slightly different?

This isnt a cookie cutter company
