I have put a L.O.P. recoil reducer on several 1100's. I have cut the stock, cut the recoil spring and all works well. As long as the spring opens the action everything works well. I have taken up to 4" off the spring.
Cut the spring, put all back together, dry fire the gun and see if the action stays open when you pull the action back.

Im not sure if thats the route they want to take. I cut down a 1187/870 stock for my 870. I would like to mount it one a 1187. To save myself a trip to see if it fits. The length of the tube or needed depth of the hole before it pertrudes out past end of stock. Personally I would have no problem cutting down tube, just not my gun.

Just had the stock off mine this morning it measures 11 1\8th" from the receiver. There is about a 1\2 above the cross pin hole so it could be shortened this much easy and you can move the hole and shorten the spring if you need more.
