Repeal of light bulb law will probably pass the Republican House, but fail in the Democratic Senate. Too bad the fruitcakes that hijacked the Tea Party movement in Nevada and Delaware gave us a Democratic Senate. That Senate will also confirm the President's nominations.

The use of mini fluorescent bulbs is not mandatory, contrary to what Michelle (I was born in Iowa) Bachmann proclaims. As usual, she put her mouth in gear before she understands an issue. And the tea party dittoheads took up the cause. "No one is going to tell me what to do!!!" The fluorescent bulbs are but one part of the national energy policy law passed by both houses of congress. You remember GW Bush? It was one of his favored points in the law that requires conservation of resources. Manufacturers will continue to make old style bulbs as long as there is a market for them. I'm surprised Bachmann has not invested the thousands garnered from the farm bill payouts in a candle factory.

Bachmann reminds me of the character in Minnesota that complained he was not going to turn his car headlights on when using his windshield wipers during the daytime rainstorms. His issue was that his car was not accustomed to having the lights on during daylight hours and therefore his battery would get used up sooner. Bachmann has the same mentality. She is not at the top of the ladder where intelligence is measured. JF

After 2011, you will not be able to buy 100 watt incandesent bulbs.

A few years down the road from that you will not be able to buy 60 & 75 watts.

The 40's and 25's will be avialable for a short while after that and some for special use, like refrigerators and ovens.

The mini flurescents contain mercury and are subject to special disposal requirements of the EPA and all are made in China. The above web site I posted, is a policy statement of cleanup of a broken mini. Read it.

You are wrong when you say you are not required to use the mini's. You will be required to use them decades from now, because the incandesents will not be around.

Does not matter who was President when the bill was passed or who held the House of Senate.

Many people in this country are offended by the "Nannyism" of government. That is not it's purpose.

It was a tax stamp on tea, and other taxes and declarations, as well as the lack of representation that cause the Revolution. The same circumstances are repeating some 235 years later. Maybe the second Revolution will be over a stupid light bulb.

That was s good one sissy- a dim bulb if there ever was one.

Not to worry about light bulbs: I've been hoarding them and will have plenty to sell, but they won't be cheap. Thomas Edison made me do it.

Oh, and I just sent Michelle Bachmann $100.00 for her presidential run.

She was on The O'Reilly Factor just now and while Bill ranted and raved and spewed the same BS bile about the need to raise the debt ceiling, Michelle, ever cool and better looking than ever, tried to explain to him with reason and logic why raising the debt was a bad idea, but like most thick skulled New Yorkers, he refused to understand.

Rick Barker - Bachman is not an economist. she does not know anything about American history. She does not believe in evolution. Other than how to hold out her hand for farm subsidy money and medcaid money for her husband, what does she actually know?

Sorry Gary but YOU are wrong. Before you attack Bachman, check out Boxer, Fienstien and other demwits that get subsidies for their husbands or wifes.

Most real economist know you can't spend more then you take in!

    Economics 101

The crowd on the news media and liberal politicians ALL flunked: Economics 101

Why don't you all who thinks the debt limit should be raised, call all your plastic card company's and ask them to raise your credit limit tomorrow and see what happens.

The light blub issue is just another example of government over stepping their bounds! Both party's are at fault as usual!

timberfalla - not my fault that Bachman got her degree from Oral Roberts University and never learned anything about American history or science or what makes our economy go. I don't like her because she is not very bright. Doesn't mean I love the super libs you mentioned. Bachman is brighter than the idiot tea party senate candidate (and big loser) from Delaware but not by much and with her many flaws will be trounced in a general election. I am against anyone who would rail about government spending has no problem standing in line to get some personally.

Raising the debt ceiling is cover money that has already been spent. For many years (since Reagan) we have had Congressional spending sprees and for the last 10 years we have also had stupid wars that have accomplished nothing but sucking us dry.

We need to cut spending but also need to raise revenues. We do not need to give tax breaks to oil companies and we do not need to keep feeding the fat cats and corporations with tax loopholes. CEOs and CFOs are seeing 15 to 25% raises this year - how about you? Why support them when they only want to lay you off and move operations to Asia?

There is far too much to cover in this forum so just think for yourself for a moment.

Gary, perhaps I should send her another 100.00 and ask others on this site to do the same.

You really think Obama is smarter than her?

Hell my dog is smarter than him.

We don't have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem, along with the Communist faggot in the White House.

Rick - I did not say that I think obama is smarter than anyone - you are making stuff up now. I said that bachman is not very bright and will be trounced in a general election. the media will not attack the prez but will go after Ms Bachman in a heartbeat. she is riding free now but if over the next year she can secure the republican nomination, the media will chew her up.

"I am against anyone who would rail about government spending has no problem standing in line to get some personally."

If that is what you believe, Gary, lets hear your rants against all the Democrats, they are all guilty, its called "bringing home the bacon"

Lets hear them: Senator's name and with the name calling.

In case you didn't hear, today, Pres Obama and his buddies at GE are behind the light bulb scam.

So who are the real "fat cats"

Before you attack the "tax" breaks for the oil company's, check out who really gets those breaks, hint: its NOT BIG OIL, its "illegal" for them to receive one penny.

    Please get better informed.

Gary, Obama is not an economist, nor much of anything else, but the press still likes him and will not like any Republican candidate that steps forward.

I think MB is bright. What we need in the White House is an President that is smart enough to know government cannot be all things to all people and cannot spend more than what it has, nor take it away from the people who make it happen. It is not the government's money or property, it is ours. We need to stop the stealing that the government has been engaged in for the last 50 years.

If I have to find a Republican the press will support, I might as well stay home from voting, because it "ain't" ever going to happen.

Rick - I saw a clip of the President on Fox News, maybe O'Reilly. The president was saying how much money after a certain amount the government should allow the rich to keep. The commentary was that this shows Obama's view of the world, i.e. that it is all the government's money and they have the right to determine how much of it folks can keep.

If anybody can track down that quote and commentary please post a link. Maybe a new thread on that subject is in order.

One thing sticks in my craw here:

Try to run a clinic without having to take Medicaid money. It only works for Rodeo Drive plastic surgeons.

Criticizing that issue is short sighted and smacks of lib technique.

The Gov continues to throw money in all directions while insisting they need more.

Now I would like to know just how many "corporate jet owners" are there?

If your 401K includes stock in any major company that might just be you.

So Obama wants money from youse little bastards too.

The citizens of Delaware learned a lesson from all this division among conservatives. They voted for Christine O'Donnell, an unemployed political gadfly, who could not win the general election in the Republican primary. She started off her campaign commercials with the statement "I'm not a witch."

She lost in a landslide to Chris Coons, an admitted socialist. Same thing in the 2008 White House run. John McCain was a tired old man, paired up with a polarizing VP candidate. McCain won the primary because Huckabee would not drop out, even though he could not win the primary.

We better get our act together or its going to be four more of you known who. If you haven't heard, the EPA wants to ban all lead ammo, and it does not take an act of Congress for them to do that. Only to declare it a toxic substance.

    Divided we fall.

    Bill from lower, slower Delaware.

While we are at it, it would like someone to post the fable that goes first they came for (someone) because they were (something) and I did not care, because I was not..........

The story goes through all these statements where the government came after a group of people and the person did nothing, then the government came after that person and no one was left.

That was originally about the Jews in Nazi Germany, but later paraphrased for gun owners.
