I was looking at Bing Maps when I decided to pin the locations of the trap clubs that shoot ATA registered targets that were within an hours drive time of my house.

Being in Michigan, it's unbelievably great!

14 different clubs within 1 hour of my house.

    Well, let's see:
    Indiana Gun Club 12 miles.

    Fall Creek CC. 27

    Brownsburg CC 26

Marion County CC 25 No registered trap but lots of fun.

    Five Points CC 28 miles.

    Kingens CC 22 miles.

    Alexandria CC 38 miles.

    Roachdale GC 35 miles.

    Rushville CC 52 miles.
    CERAland,Columbus GC 62

That's Ten with in an hours drive. But for 30 more minutes, I include:
Fulton County GC 82 miles...but it is one of my favorites.

Wallace Traps, 75 miles great old club.

All are very good clubs and have great shoots...Life is good in CENTRAL INDIANA
But, I usually make at least 1 or 2 trips a year to:
Mason, Michigan MTA Storm or no Storm. 249 miles 5 hours.
Cardinal Center Marengo, Ohio...Sets the standard for FAMILY-Shooting. 153 miles
World Shooting Center, Sparta, IL...Grand 268 Miles..
    Take care..INDYCAMSTER

Two clubs within an hour, one within 1.5 hours and two about 3 hours away.
    Mason is 4 hours.
These give me all the targets I want.

I can run downtown which is a couple miles and a few minutes or I can make a whole day of it and drive 45 miles in an hour with options all around...

In the Chicago Metro area, we are fortunate to have Maywood, Naperville, Downers Grove, St. Charles, McHenry, Northbrook and a bit further out Plug & Pellet/Rockford... plus a few others who don't throw registered...

Shotgun shooting sports are alive and well in Northern Illinois!

    best regards,

    Jay

In Texas, we don't usually measure distance by the miles, but by the hours it takes to get there. Pretty spread out, and the registered trap clubs in South Texas are all pretty much 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from me (except for my home club).

Victoria Skeet and Trap Club (15 minutes)

Fayette County GC (La Grange, TX) 1 1/2 hours

Corpus Christi GC (CC, TX) 1 1/2 hours

Bexar Community (San Antonio, TX) 1 1/2 hours

San Antonio GC (SA, TX) 1 1/2 hours

National Shooting Complex (SA, TX) 2 hours

Metro GC (Angleton, TX) 2 hours

All are great places to shoot, and it is always nice to run into my many trapshooting friends at them, whenever I get a chance to visit and shoot at their fine facilities.

    closest 40 miles one way
next closest 70 miles one way
Michigan home grounds (Mason) 212 miles one way

I shot close to 10,000 registered targets in calendar year 2011 so I have to drive if I want to compete.

too far...no local practice facility here....hardly worth it to invest in ammo and gas and then shoot as poorly as I do now....

Use to be 5 minutes from the garage to Phoenix Trap Club. Now since Phoenix is closed, it is 35 miles to Ben Avery.

Red Mountain closed-- that was 38 miles away.

Tucson is 110 miles or so.

They don't shoot ATA registered at Prescott Valley Gun Club (105 miles north).

Steve's place in Las Vegas is 5 hours, 300 miles, but there is soooo much to do once you get there (to Vegas).

    Life goes on.....

Jerry you and me are in about the same boat only my nearest is RR about 50 miles Gator 65 then everything else is a little more. By the way when you talk to Indy again ask him when we are going to go shoot trap at McDill. He stated he could go shoot there anytime he wanted.
