I have an older 1100 trap with a barrel code of A W M 7. S/N on the gun is 219XXXV (x's are actually numbers) As the gun has no letter prefix, I was told it was manufactured prior to 1968. The number 7 is in a larger font than the letters. The leletters A and W are the same size and the letter M is slightly larger but smaller than the number 7. I have looked around and I have seen that the codes are derived off of the words B-L-A-C-K-P-O-W-D-E-R-X. B being 1, L being 2 etc. The first number is supposed to be the month making mine a March manufacture I think. There is some conflict with the last 2 letters as they indicate 2 different years. How do you determine the year for sure? Is it a 1965?

I start off by telling her what a nice action she has and just see where that takes me. Jeff

Jeff, thats great. there are two letters on the left side rear of barrel that dates it. this is only accurate with original barrels. Jack

With out seeing the barrel I would say the date code is March 1972. The problem with dating Remington shot guns such as a 1100 or a 870 is the barrel may not be original to the receiver. If the letter A and W are of the same size and close together I would bet that is the date code at least for the barrel.

Call Remington (1-800-243-9700), read them your serial #, and they'll tell you. Will take you about 30 seconds, and the call is free.

Ask her dad if it's OK! No drinking but bring lots of ammo.

    Couldn't resist, sorry.
