I recently purchase an older Perazzi MX-8 set that could use a re-blue of both the single and the double barrel. I have ben told that it is not appropriate to re-blue with the normal hot blue method but to only rust blue the barrels, then again I have been told that the normal bluing process works just fine. Which is it? Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to the appropriate method. The set is older so it is not really worth putting an excessive amount of cash into a re-do but then again I do not want to damage the barrels. Can any one be of assistance?

Call Glenrock Blue. They do awesome work and are quite reasonable. I've had firsthand experience. Phil is a good guy and quite the craftsman.

the wrong bluing method can ruin the solder that hold your barrels together. you need to speak with a pro. good luck with it

Giacomo and Glenrock do great work...Stu Wright from Wright's Gunsmithing in Pinkneyville IL has done some Perazzi work for me that is exceptional. He has a fellow that does his polishing and prep work that is the best I've ever seen. Might be worth a call...
