How about an old time shoot at next years Grand. Model 12' Model 21 double barrels, 4E Ithaca guns etc. Everyone dress up like old time trap shooters. Would be kinda neat to see a shot like this.

We had a small turn out for the Fall 2009 "Cazadores de Codorniz Classic" and Spring 2008 "Doubles in the Desert" fun shoots for the the benefit of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.
Check the link above for more information.

The 2008 shoot was right after the Spring Grand at the Tucson Trap & Skeet Club, when the snow birds were around and lots of Spring Training and paradise golf season visitors were in Phoenix. In 2007, I talked with the then director at Ben Avery CTC and he had no interest in the idea, but things have changed since. Ben Avery will have the 2nd Southwest Double Gun Expo Feb. 26, 2011, and the SASS Winter Range is February 22-27, 2011. Quail season runs through the end of Jan.

I posted promo threads on the Doublegun sites: LCSCA, PGCA, 16g Society, DoubleGunBBS, etc. and would be happy to do the same IF SOMEBODY ELSE wants to organize a shoot at Ben Avery or Tucson. As the economy is improving, and gas prices have gone down compared to 2007, there might be a better response to a Vintage Trapshoot? And Jan-March in Arizona is pretty close to paradise!

I think there would be sufficient interest in having a vintage shoot at the Grand as a side event.

The problem would be defining what is a vintage firearm.

Award targets based on the age of the gun

    Pre-WW I - 3 targets per 25 or 50,

    Pre-WW II - 2 targets,

    Pre-Woodstock :) (1969) - 1 target,

    Side-by-side - 1 target

I wonder how many shooters would shoot better with some of their old guns that are in their safes and closets?

I shot my first 100 straight with a Ithaca 4e. There is no disadvantage shooting a old gun. It's the Indian not the arrow. At least at 16 yard. Bill

Well I would scrape the rust off of the '97 for that. Don't have a skirt but I do have a beach towel.

The Remington Model 1100 was introduced in 1963 - is that when "modern" started?

Let me re-read my post. Yep, I said 1950 as my arbitrary number...

Or, call it "Pre-War" usually 1940 or earlier... then we can still shoot our superpose's ;-)
