Been at the United States Olympic Training Center since Friday. I am now a member of the USA Shooting/NRA National Coach Trainer's Staff.

Tomorrow and Wed, I have the honor of training eight coaches-to-be, including four Olympians.

One of these shooters is Alan Chubb. I look forward to meeting and training with him.

Being here makes me even more proud to be an American.

Darn, when I shot International birds, we didn't have all these neat little secret societies. We all knew who we were, even the medal winners. We shot together, ate together, travelled together. Have things changed?

    Dear Hap

There are over a hundred Olympic hopefuls here now.

Corey Cogdell is in the class. She is near the top of the food chain in several ways. Olympian, great shot, great person.

Samantha Olsen is our trainer. Olympian, great person, natural leader, as is Corey.

Also Theresa Dewitt, Army Advanced Marksmanship Unit. SFC, Olympian, proven leader.

Seems they should be training ME. I am the luckiest old guy in Colorado this week.

A pic of me, no secrets here.

    Shooting Coach -

Are any of the 8 new coach trainee's Colorado residents? They are opening a bunker trap at the Pikes Peak GC in Colorado Springs.

I am looking for someone serious and knowledgeable to hold bunker trap clinic's or training over there...

A Bunker trap is in the works there. Just had the class shoot there this afternoon. COLD AND WINDY.

You should have seen some of these folks shoot. Over a century of Intl' shooting experience on the line. More Gold and Silver on that line than most jewelry stores! Made me feel like a beginner.

Corey has lived in Colorado Springs about 5 years, and may be available for training.

Did you guys have Lance out there? ... I always thought he might be a good one to hold a clinic. Yes, the wind was howling today.

QUESTION: How do you actually "teach" bunker trap...????

Is there a difference between teaching and coaching?

What materials are they giving you during your "class" (or is this just a shooting vacation for 8 guys?

TELL US what is going on out there John. (thanks)

An Instructor gives lessons by the hour.

A Coach provides an environment to help the students reach their maximum potential over a long period of time.

I came out at my own expense, and came to learn, not to sight see or shoot. I did not bring a gun.

This was NOT a vacation. If you want to know what we did out here, get qualified to be invited to become a member of the National Coach Development Staff.

Long hours, late nights, all for others. I am honored above my station.
