Yes Kolar and you are exactly the reason we should not be doing any mortgage bailouts. You admitted this was a speculative investment, as such their was risk. The market you invested in went down and with it your investment. Now you are happy the TARP funds are bringing you personal relief on what was either your poor choice or bad luck. This relief is coming from everyone else and it comes at a cost in the form of bigger and more intrusive government, high taxes. You and others in your position should not be recieving a bailout from taxpayers, unless or course you think the government should provide relief to every person who lost money in other speculative investments such as 401K's, mutual funds, business startups that failed etc. You gambled, you lost, now society covers part of your loss, that is intellectually and morally wrong. As it was for generations before us, bankruptcy or paying on the house until the market turns around should be your only choices. Would you be happy if the bank comes in and increases the value of your home and the amount of mortgage on it because the market went up. That is what should happen to every person having their mortgage reduced due to falling market. The knife should cut both ways or no way. If you support relief from your losses you should expect a cut from your gains.

In the past when times are lean or I MADE BAD DECISIONS I had to sell off my hobbies to support my mistakes. I couldn't enjoy shooting if I were being forcefully subsidized by my fellow citizens. Someone smarter than I once said if you want to guarantee an ignorant poverty class in this country, just GIVE them money!!!! Just my well earned $.02

I sure hope that Kolar69 was just throwing some bait in the water. If in fact he's being honest with his statement or situation, we're in worse shape than I thought. Bob

    Hmmm.....

Maybe I'll call my mortgage holder and see if it's ok to pay every other month until the economy turns around.

    Or..

Buy a place I can't afford with little or nothing down, don't make any payments and wait for foreclosure, then hand them the keys. Go to the Silver Dollar, buy a trailer and wait for a hurricane/tornado to destroy it, then get a new Fema trailer....

I was really stupid, bought a house I could afford, pay my credit cards every month without carrying balances, and I can't get squat.

But I can look in the mirror. I seriously don't think anyone shooting a Kolar should get part of my wife's earnings from her job at the slaughterhouse, since I basically backed way down on ATA shooting due to economics. We make it go with her pay and my Social security, but I just shoot league and open rounds.

    You suck, pal.

Lost $20 at poker last night...New guy sat town..I didn't expect him and thought for sure it would be the same ole saps as usual. I took the chance and bet anyway, figuring I'd take him for sure as well...Things changed, and I lost...Which form do I send in to get my $20 back?

If I see a car with the "Honk if you're paying my mortgage" bumper sticker on it....I'd be very tempted to walk over and KEY both sides of it from end to end.

This shit has ceased to be funny.

You are not going to believe this, there are still a good number of people that think 1) Obama was the right choice, 2)that the stimulus is going to work,3)that every socialist plan and program is just what this country needs, and last but not least that government is here to help. Our problem gentlemen and ladies is that there are a lot of dumb folks out there and they bred.
