these are pictures that Ricky Thompson, a fellow ts.com shooter asked me to post of the trap fields he built. He is not completely done, as he has to fix and level the dirt and pour the walks or he may use large stepping stones. He is the big ugly guy in the pictures. He told be he is the father of a 12 year old Son who is the shooter in the family. He did a nice job and wish it was in my back yard,

That's great, but many trapshooters would complain about the background. Perhaps he should get his chainsaw out and spend a couple of years cutting down trees.

Why would someone need a permit for this?

Permits? Inspectors? He obviously has something that can dig holes!

Kidding aside, it looks like a great installation. Enjoy your hard work.

Who's going to ask to see the permit? He obviously has guns...

Great job, I too wish that was out the bck door. Shooting with that tree backgroud would become easier after a while...

Cool. How did he drain the pit? To a field tile? Or is it on the side of a hill?

Thanks guys for your comments, NO--I don't need a permit and NO--I'm not zoned
I own the 116 acre farm that the trap is on and it is on a dead end road so shouldn't have any trouble...
Now about the trees, I looked all over the farm to put this and I thought without ruining a good field that would be good practice to have poor background so when you go to a registered shoot the birds really look good ..
The trap machine is a Western with 200 bird carosel works real well .
The house was built on slight hill side the digging was donated by a good friend and shooter with mini trak-hoe .... I had blocks donated some labor I still have a lot of work to do with the ground work and fixing my walks.
Good people are willing to help when they know they can use it...
KEEP THIS SPORT ALIVE TAKE A KID TO A SHOOT....... Ricky

    Ricky,

Real nice looking setup. Glad the Western trap worked out for you. Did you end up extending the carousel? I'm curious how you made out with the PVC pipe.

I really like the walk-in access. Good job with using the natural slope too! I think we are all envious. Enjoy.

I know many tall shooters who would LOVE this house. You can tell who they are because they are mostly missing skin on the top of their heads. IMHO Omaha

I'm shooting the satellite shoot the 21st of June in Ackley. But no plans on shooting in Ames for the Iowa Games, I hate that place now... Josh
