Attorney General Eric Holder announced a major shift in federal criminal policy on Monday, overturning the decades-old "mandatory minimum prison sentences" for low-level, nonviolent drug offenders, a hallmark of President Ronald Reagan's War on Drugs.

Under the new policy, prosecutors will send fewer drug offenders to federal prison for long sentences, while judges will have more discretion in sentencing.

The other day O was preaching to the Teachers telling them not to discipline young black kids. What the hell is with this guy? So openly racist.

How about cutting zero's vacations and build more prisons.

Do away with all the country club style prisons, make them a living hell and they wont want to go back.

It seems that holder cant seem to stay out of the news.

Don't discipline the black kids seems right as most of their parents sure don't

Why the surprise? After the voter intimidation incident in Philadelphia and I believe there is more to come. I think Holder and Obama think they are making up in some ways for past racial injustices, but they are approaching this the wrong way. Col. Allen West, Juan Williams and others have the right idea. To fight against single parent families and young teen pregnancies is the right approach. To let dealers off with a lighter sentence makes them think they'll get a pass every time and and will lead to repeat offenders. They fail to see or ignore the real reasons for criminal drug actvity, and that is the breakup of the traditional two parent family. ed

The war on drugs has been going on for 5 decades. We have spent untold national wealth trying to control their use. And we have lost the war. Oh, we win a few skirmish's, but that's about all. Make Pot legal and give controlled drugs to the addicts under controlled conditions. Take the profit out of drugs and tax them just like cigarettes and booze. At that point we could clean out half the populations of jails and prisons and reduce crime down to the really bad people. People will quit just because of the afford-ability factor. I'm not liberal just a realist. The alternative; Do as the Chinese do, whack all drug dealers and users with a 9mm in the back of the head. But, we are to PC to take that route.
