The Hermiston Oregon Gun Club and the Hermiston 4-H Primer Poppers are holding a Youth Day Trap Shoot on Sunday, April 7 at the Hermiston Gun Club. This is a great opportunity for those 18 and younger to spread the lead and receive some coaching and praise from Adults. There will be singles, doubles and some games. Bring on the kids............. The Hermiston Gun Club held a youth shoot that was open to any youth 18 and under. We had 16 young shooters brave the 35-40 mph winds to shoot 100 non-registered singles targets. They stood out in that wind and shot like it was the world championship. We had planned to throw a round of 25-pair of doubles targets, but in that wind we could not keep them both in the air long enough for the kids to get off two shots. We did have a buddy shoot and a few Annies afterwards and those kids love the games!

Every kid that completed the 100-singles received a trophy of a Shamrock Box Holder with a 4-H logo and HGC on it. The others received 2-boxes of shells to use for more practice. They were all pretty excited with the trophies and their accomplishments in that wind shooting those wild targets. We should have a good crop of young shooters that will eventually make their way into registered trap and more games.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event. We will plan to have another youth shoot later in the summer or early fall when it won't be as windy (hopefully).
