People in general look out for themselves

    They feel

    1. It just might work

    2. We know we need new energy sources- it just might work

    3. We know the roads need to be repaired- it just might work

    4. We know health care is a problem and we all worry about our own health or that of our children or parents and don’t want to worry about where the money will come from- it just might
    work

    5. We know education is a problem- so throw money at it- it just might work.

    6. We don’t have to worry about the consequences for the future because this plan just might work

    Regards from Iowa

    Gene

I think he is popular because the media controls what small minds think. Bush was evil and Obama is the messiah. It has been a constant drum beat for years now. The truth is his plan for hope and change is based on more government with trillions of dollars of new spending followed by a big increase in taxes on those that are productive with a transfer of that money to the govnernment. The roads will be repaired. That will employ more illegal Mexicans but not create jobs for anyone else except a few that own construction companies. Alternate energy to nuclear and fossil fuels is a hoax, an expensive hoax. The government taking over health care will not cost us any less and will end up being rationed. No other way it can work. The government spends a fortune on education. More per pupil than any other country. It doesn't matter how much they spend or will spend. More money can't fix a broken system. All he does have is a false hope and change sold to stupid minds by the media. His biggest failures are going to be in foreign affairs. He is finding out now that Iraq is a little more complicated than just pulling the troops out and bringing them home. He will fail in Afghanistan. He will have giant failures yet unknown. This is Carter II. He will leave us with high interst rates, high inflation and high unemployment and a failed foreign policy and a massive debt. But small minds are encouraged. Good luck with that.

    Iowa man!!
If foolish spending by the Bush government is what got us into this mess as accused by the democrats, then more foolish spending will get us out? I guess if irresponsible spending will get us out of a mess like this then we never, ever will have to worry about the economy again. All we have to do is go on an irresponsible spending spree and Boom!! All is golden again.

We need to drill, drill, drill & drill some more! It's absolutely stupid to be sitting on billions of barrels of oil and not get it out of the ground! I'm not against alternet sources of energy. But until it's developed we need to DRILL and get as far away from OPEC as we can!!The farmer can't run his machinery on solar or wind power!!I doubt that we will ever see an electric or hybrid John Deere tractor! We can't possibly grow enough renewable sources to meet our needs!!(do the math!)Grocery prices are already getting ridiculous because we are using beans, corn & other ag. products for fuel!!Global warming in my opinion is so much Al Gore B.S.!--Bio-diesel doesn't work well in different climate conditions, the big rigs won't run on alcohol, neither will the locomotives!!The electric &/or hybrids are fine for around town or short trips, but how many will load up all their gear & drive an electric to the Grand? So much for my bloviating, just my opinion!

Yep, he's using a method that has a history, borrow and borrow some more. Just for the record for all you hopefulls. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but you cannot borrow yourself out of debt. The piper must be paid, and good God his bill is a dandy. J.W.

Hitler was popular. This guy, Obama came out of nowhere and no one really knows his past. That's scary. Look at how he sees America; he sees America as a bad place responsible for the World's ills. Look at his advisors and cabinet (including the guy who says he wrote the Assault Weapons Ban Bill - Joe Biden) That's scary. He believes in redistribution of wealth and socialism. That's scary. He believes in equality of outcome. He believes in gun control. Now, look at the aggregate, now that's frightening. Look beyond the facade and listen to what he is really saying. I can see clearly now. BT-100dc

These guys are barking mad. Guess who REALLY gets to pay these new taxes? Got a mirror?

"US Treasury secretary attacks oil, gas tax breaks
    By Tom Doggett

WASHINGTON, March 4 (Reuters) - U.S. oil and natural gas producing companies should not receive federal subsidies in the form of tax breaks because their businesses contribute to global warming, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told Congress on Wednesday.

It was one of the sharpest attacks yet on the oil and gas industry by a top Obama administration official, reinforcing the White House stance that new U.S. energy policy will focus on promoting renewable energy sources like wind and solar power and rely less on traditional fossil fuels like oil as America tackles climate change.

"We don't believe it makes sense to significantly subsidize the production and use of sources of energy (like oil and gas) that are dramatically going to add to our climate change (problem). We don't think that's good economic policy and we think changing those incentives is good for the country," Geithner told the Senate Finance Committee at a hearing on the White House's proposed budget for the 2010 spending year.

The Obama administration's budget would levy an excise tax on oil and natural gas produced in the Gulf of Mexico, raising $5.3 billion in revenue from 2011 to 2019."

quote: We need to drill, drill, drill & drill some more!

    We can not do this!
We must send our $$ over seas so the wealthy oil dudes will continue to buy our debt.
Same reason we cannot manufacture our goods. China must receive billions each day so they in turn will buy our debt.

It is like taxing you without you realizing it.

Don't beleive it?? Mexico also buys debt..... they get a ton of jobs and income from the free trade deals. Again, you send the $$ to a country and in return they buy your debt, simple.

    we are a screwed nation...........

Guess what would happen if we simply slow down the flow money to countries who buy our debt??
