    Hello All

I have a bunch of 158 gr jacked soft point bullets and lots of Red Dot, but cant seem to find any listed data for this combo.

Anyone have a load in one of their old books? All the store shelves are bare around here so have to try and make do with what I have for now... thanks and have fun......Joe

Try Handloads.com. They list one load for the 38 with 158 LSWC.

The jacketed bullet is not a good candidate for use in the .38 special at low vel using fast burning charges. The reason is friction in the bbl. In the extreme you may get a bullet stuck in the barrel. Generally you just get big velocity swings.

Better off using cast lead bullets or a bigger charge of a slower powder like Unique if you must the the JSPs.

Thanks RCL323 and Wolfram for the link and info...
I also have a .357 rifle so I probably wont be using jacked red-dot loads in that. I have some Unique that will work for the rifle loads.

.38 special in a rifle is a lot of fun..VERY quiet

Use 3gr of RedDot under any 158 and always got nice quiet and very accurate loads,..absolutely deadly in my model 15 Smith
