I’m refinishing a 1950’s Remington 11-48 and need help in removing the bolt from the action. The stocks & barrel are off, and the trigger plate is out. The recoil spring in the stock is unhooked from the two long “bolt fingers.” I can’t figure out how to remove the “cocking piece” in order to remove the bolt assembly from the action. There must ne a secret I don’t know…...HELP…..& THANKS!

I've got a 58 and I can't get the 'cocking piece' to come out either.

It turns out that one justs "PULLS" hard on it. There was a spring detent that is hidden inside. Now I can do a thorough cleaning.
