    Health Care Ins. Co. ????

My wife and I have been covered under her employers health care plan unti just recently. She has changed jobs and the new emploer does not offer insurance, so we are now on our own.

Under her previous plan we (she) had to pay for a part of the coverage...close to 5K per year. Frankly, the insurance they offerred kind of sucked anyway.

I've been shooping around and have come across a company called,,, Premier Healthcare Services. They are headquatered in Wyoming (I believe) and cover all 50 states.

Talkng with their rep, by the way my wife is 46 and I am 48, the rep said tentively, our premiums would run $299 per month. It is a PPO/HMO type of coverage, so the deals come within their network, which does extend to us here in the Brainerd, MN area.

Question is, does anyone here on TS.com have their coverage and are you satisfied with their services, or has anyone heard good or bad news about their services.

    Thanks for your time,

    Doug Braker

Doug if you can find insurance that cheap I would grab it. I'm in the same boat and have been shopping around and the cheapest I can find for my family of three is $739/month with a $5,000 deductible.

Read the fine print, especially anything related to a "stop-loss" provision and co-insurance costs. Make sure your doctors participate in their network, if that matters to you. I'd look over their list of participating providers. I have seen the Premier Healthcare Services and I believe they are related to Prime Healthcare also. They have offices all over the country and appear to be a major player in the health insurance market. Whether they are any good, I can't advise you, since I have not used them. PPO/HMO can be a real problem, depending on how their plan covers you and how it's set up. I would steer clear of any plan that does not allow you a choice of specialists or primary physicians. That would include those that have their own facilities and employ their own providers. I had an HMO some time ago and they were a major problem.

Sounds like making the case for a single payer, universal, health care system.

Universal health care, aka Socialized Medicine, would be more costly. Both in Money and in Lives.
