Just got this from my good friend and retired SD Game Warden living near Hays, KS, who, incidentally was on the National Guard International Shooting Team.

I normally don't get into this political crap, but this is a great editorial that bespeaks of small town America.

    Hope this is readable...

PS: Thanks Ken for sending this to me.

Nice post Whiz. This stuff needs to be publicized more.

    From Rasmussen;

"In the race for the White House, McCain leads among those who closely follow traditional local media and among those who rarely or never rely upon local TV and newspapers. Obama lead among those whose use is in between.

Among those who watch local TV news every night or nearly every night, McCain leads 49% to 41%. Among those who read the local paper every day or nearly every day, McCain leads 48% to 42%. Among those who rarely or never turn on local TV news, McCain leads by six and he is up by twelve among those who rarely or never read a local newspaper.

Among those who occasionally watch local television news and those who watch a couple of times a week, Obama leads by five. Among those who occasionally read the local newspaper and those who read it a couple of times per week, Obama leads by four.

Part of this divergence undoubtedly results from the age difference in support for Obama and McCain. Obama leads among voters under 40 while McCain leads among older voters."

Not to be contrarian...I mean, Obama IS an elitist A-hole, after all...but that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of "bitter clingers" out there. Anybody with eyes can see that there are. Why do you think this comment hit home so hard? If there were no truth to it, nobody would have cared. It gets under people's skin, and itches them and burns them, because it's true. That doesn't mean he's not an A-hole...it just means even a blind pig finds some truth once in a while - and usually pays dearly for it (to my great satisfaction).

His mistake was saying what everybody knows...dang, I love this guy! I just can't get enough of these Democratic candidates stepping on their peckers at critical moments...that was a Dukakis "tank moment" if there ever was one.

This guy could be a lot of entertainment over the next 5 months. If McCain can't beat this guy, then he doesn't deserve the office.

    EE,

I don't think McCain can "finish," either. There is a small possibility that this race could be his, if he were capable of taking it to the opponent. But I don't see him doing that. The winds are against the Republicans. The Democrats have thrown McCain a chance, of course, in the form of a deeply flawed candidate in Obama. But I don't think McCain has the chutzpah to take advantage. He'll just sit there and pee his pants as gas prices rise higher and higher, and ride off into the sunset like Bob Dole (hopefully he'll spare us the viagra ads, however).

    Whiz,
    Thanks for posting the article.

    It sums things up succinctly.

The longer Osama and Hitlery slug it out, the better it is for McCainiac, because they won't be focusing on him. This might give McCainiac an advantage, and there is historical precedent for this.<br>

It really boils down to this. McCain is dry, crumbly crap. Clinton is fresh, wet crap. And Obama is diarrhea. But no matter how you slice it, we're all being served up a crap sandwich and we're all going to have to take a bite.

While I am by no means a McCain fan, you shouldn't under estimate him. He outlasted some pretty tough opponents, with a lot more money, to get the nomination. Dole was awarded the nomination as fodder for Clinton who was going to win a second term regardless.

As the North Vietnamese found out, he is one tough SOB and I think he is going to look real good and strong standing next to that pencil neck sissy boy.

Sounds good...but everybody said the same thing about Dole.

War hero, greatest generation, arm shot up fighting Nazis in Europe...(toast).

Young people today don't want to hear the word "war" around, about, or coming out of the mouth of, a Presidential candidate...unless they're talking about how quick it will be over. Many old people are the same way.
