1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

Just FYI, the only "trap" barrel hastings made was a high rib, and 30". What you have is a 34" field barrel.

I have a 34 inch barrel for an 870 and thought it said trap on the box. I'll have to dig it out to see. Jackie B.

This barrel has straight lazer cut lans.I dont think they would do that to a field barrel.

Not sure what you mean by straight laser cut?

Special barrel made by Hastings with straight rifling to keep the wad from spinning. This was done to have tighter patterns for trap shooting. HMB

I'm pretty sure Hastings made a 34" wadlock barrel and it was for trap. Besides all that aside, a 34" field barrel? Thats a new one to me.

Even if it were a "field" barrel isn't the only difference between a flat rib trap barrel and a field barrel is the mid bead?

Great price by the way, I wish I could find 30" 2 3/4 wad lock.

The difference b/w the 2 would be the beads, the POI, with the trap barrel being higher, and the rib height, the trap barrel being higher.

In additional to 32" and 34" field barrels, Hastings also sold a 36" field barrel. Length by itself does not indicate a trap barrel.

On the hastings barrels, every one they made had a slight step in it as well, so that also can't be a determining factor to differentiate trap from field.

The only true "trap" barrel they ever made was 30", and had a much higher rib than any of their other barrels, and was only made for the 1100.
