My wife just got a yardage reduction to the 18 yd line in the mail. Is this something new the ATA is doing? Not the reduction but the 18 yd line?

Yes the ATA changed the rules on handicap yardage this year.

    "C. HANDICAP YARDAGE ASSIGNMENT

A shooter will be handicapped between 18 and 27 yards and at the
highest yardage punched on his/her Average Card, unless he/she is
    required to shoot penalty yardage."

Just make sure she understands the changes in squadding yardages when you are at 18yds

"When squadding 18 yard shooters, there shall be no more than one yard difference between adjacent shooters in the squad and no more than a total difference of two yards in a squad."

Yes. It's been in place for a year or two (again).

The possibility of a reduction to the 18 yard line became possible this November. The few who have accepted the reduction seem to have difficulty squadding and there is talk about resending the change next month.

Pat I certainly hope someone looks into it as the 18yd shooters are few right now and some times the 19 and 20yd shooters are like everyone they wish to shoot with their friends also.
