I am loading 19.2 of Green dot in Remington hull Fiocchi primer with DRA 12 wads and 7.5 shot for my son at the 26 yrd line. What is your thoughts on this? Was thinking of maybe moving to a versilite wad?

    Thanks Corey

Should be fine, I have used 19.5 greed dot and a fig 8 with fiocchi primers and STS hull. That is a keeper load for me!

I used to load 20.5grs in that hull with the DR fig. 8 wad, made a really good back fence load. A friend loads 20grs in his and likes it.

I would bet that load is probably doing about 1160 to 1180fps.
With 7 1/2 shot it should break any target on the trap field and not beat you up either.
    Leave it alone.

Thanks for all the comments. Today was the first day at Nebraska State shoot and he broke a 97 from the 26.5 to get punched back to the 27. I think I will leave it where it is. I am one happy camper. He just turned 16 and he is also a happy camper.

    Thanks Corey

Obviously the ammo is plenty good and a 97 from long yardage is a real accomplishment. Way to go!

Thanks for the input and kind words. Today being another day he shot his first 100 straight in singles backed up his yardage punch to the 27 yesterday with a 96 today and then a 97 in doubles to end today. I think I may be floating around the next couple days.

    Curious gasman -

What is it that makes you dissatisfied with DRA 12 wads, and what do you think the Versalite will do better?

Gasman, anyone, what is the purpose of changing from DRA 12 to Versalite?

FWIW, I gave away a bag and a half of DRM Versalite wads I bought for testing. In STS hulls using a W209 primer there was no meaningful difference in patterns between the Versalite, the Fig-8, the DRM Windjammer or the Spolar Gold (made by DRM). However, there was a difference in felt recoil. The Versalite was the hardest, the Windjammer the softest.

One of my favorite handicap loads is STS hull, W209 primer, 19.1gr green Dot, Fig-8 wad and 1 1/8oz WCM 7 1/2 shot.

Another is STS hull, W209 primer, 16.5gr e3, DRM Windjammer, 1 1/8oz WCM 8 shot. Lyman clocks this at 1180fps. It is a hard hitting, soft shooting load.
